Rama Murthy
Hi, I have downloaded seamonkey-1.1.en-US.linux-i686.installer.tar.gz from the internet and extracted it on my desktop. When I try run installing it, the following error message pops up. [root@localhost seamonkey-installer]# ls config.ini MPL-1.1.txt seamonkey-installer* xpi/ installer.ini README seamonkey-installer-bin* [root@localhost seamonkey-installer]# ./seamonkey-installer ./seamonkey-installer-bin: error while loading shared libraries: libstdc++.so.5: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory [root@localhost seamonkey-installer]# Request you to help me with its installation. Thank you. [moved from Software by spinynorman]

darkscot
You can install Seamonkey via the Mandriva Control Center. Though to be honest i don't think it is worth the bother. Firefox and Thunderbird are better options.

dexter11
libstdc++.so.5: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directoryYou need to install the package which contains this file. You can search for filenames in rpmdrake. In this case the package is libstdc++5-3.3.6-3mdk. If you can't find it then visit easy-urpmi first (see top of this page) and add some repos first (main, contrib, update repos and plf repos). shengchieh
I have the exact same problem as Rama, but am still stuck. Missing libstdc++.so.5 and it isnot in rpmdrake. I went to easy-urpmi, https://mandrivausers.org/easyurpmi/index.php to increase the repository. The problem is I'm using 2008.1 RC2 which is not in easy-urpmi menu. Now what? Dark
Until 2008.1 (2008 Spring) Becomes official it is classified as "cooker"
shengchieh
I'll answer my own question. Go to http://rpmfind.net/linux/rpm2html/search.p...stdc%2B%2B.so.5 and download libstdc++5-3.3.6-3mdk.i586.rpm (Mandriva 2007) Then as root do rpm -i libstdc++5-3.3.6-3mdk.i586.rpm libstdc++.so.5 is now in /usr/lib .
