      Mandriva Official Documentation

Official documentation for extant versions of Mandriva can be found at doc.mandriva.com.   Documentation for the latest release may take some time to appear there. You can install all the manuals from the main repository if you have Mandriva installed - files are prefixed mandriva-doc.

      Forum software upgrade   10/29/17

So you may have noticed the forum software has upgraded !!!
A few things that have changed. We no longer have community blogs (was never really used) We no longer have a portal page.
We can discuss this, and decide whether it is needed (It costs money) See this thread: Here

  1. Issue with Samba in 2010.0

Well the different tools to control and set up samba are great, I've actually been debating about looking into them for a good while, but my issue is I can use smbpasswd -a user and there is no entry in /etc/samba/smbpasswd it is as if the user somewhere along the line just gets lost before it gets saved.
  2. Issue with Samba in 2010.0

I anyone else experiancing samba not adding users through mcc? It keeps telling me that I need to add samba user even though I just added one.
  3. Where is WaveGain? [solved]

Thank you Greg, that works quite well!
  4. Where is WaveGain? [solved]

I've come to notice this over the past few installs of mandriva on various boxes. Gnormalize is available as an rpm, but when installed recently in the past year or so, the package wavegain is missing thus audio files can not be normalized. Has any one else noticed this or is it just me missing something here?
  5. Network Monitor

Pretty much keep track of traffic in and out of my file server at the moment...
  6. Network Monitor

I'm looking for a network monitor that will run on a headless server (my file server) And preferably dumps out the data so I could view it on line at something such as, I have found a few programs but nothing that comes with Mandriva, and honestly I do not want to compile something especialy on the server. Any one have any suggestions?
  7. I assume Ian ment to dissable your sata drives, and then try to boot from the live cd, if you can get in, great, if not, then the problem may be else where, but either way, when you find out if you can or can not boot off the live cd, you can renable the sata to go back into windows or access the sata drives in general...
  8. DVD software?

MPlayer works wonderfuly for me, actually it's about all I use for video files. But there is also Xine and VLC urpmi mplayer-gui as for burning dvd videos, I use k9copy. It also shrinks movies down to fit on a 4.7GB DVD urpmi k9copy both reside in the plf repositories
  9. Mandriva 2008.1 Powerpack + UPnP?

I have a Playstation 3 and have been using my linux box for a media server since 2007.1 In root console type "urpmi mediatomb" Thats what I use for serving up audio and video to my PS3
  10. Is most likely a .wmv file and as far as I know requires Windows Media Player.
  11. A few issues with the spring release

Mandriva does have player, not sure if installed by defualt as I do my system as minimal as I can to start with. urpmi mplayer-gui after you set up your repositories.
  12. Just Bought the Power Pack

No bigge at all... Though On second thought I did come to wonder if I was in the O/P's position and was to shell out the money for PWP I would go for the subscripion anyway, on grounds IIRC the subscription is only ten dollars more, and could most likely borrow a friends computer or connection to aquire 2008.1 and 2009.0 PWP And by pass the issue if possible. Also IIRC when pricing PWP for purchase latter on in the year, I did notice that yea, there is the option to buy and covers pwp and a few months of updates, and then there is the subscription for a year including pwp releases.
  13. Just Bought the Power Pack

Though I would assume if you purchase a mandriva subscription one gets two power packs (in this case 2008.1 and then 2009). Then again, assumptions are the mother of all f*ck ups...o.O
  14. Until 2008.1 (2008 Spring) Becomes official it is classified as "cooker"
