Arak
The screen will shut off every so often. I right clicked on the desktop and deactivated the screen saver. Also, in that same menue, i went to the power control and deactivated those options. What else is controlling this? Thanks!!! theYinYeti
The screen itself maybe. At least for my screen, there's a button that makes a menu appear, and in this menu, there is some control for powersave. Yves.
Arak
How can I shut this off? Where can i find this?
scarecrow
How can I shut this off? Where can i find this? Since we already know your screen model (we asked Merlin the Sorcerer) I think we can answer that one... or not?
Arak
No, It's not my monitor. Is there some other option, some other command that i am missing? If not, then thanks anyway.
jaraeez
I think maybe putting a hash # in front of DPMS in your /etc/X11/xorg.conf file in the Monitor section may help ex: Section "Monitor" Identifier "Monitor1" VendorName "Monitor Vendor" ModelName "Dell 1702FP (Analog)" ### Comment all HorizSync and VertSync values to use DDC: HorizSync 30.0 - 80.0 VertRefresh 56.0 - 76.0 #Option "dpms" HTH
cwhobbes
I also have this problem in 2007. Even when watching a video, the screen will go blank after 10 minutes, then after a couple more minutes the monitor will power off. Ive also removed the DPMS line from my xorg.conf to no avail. jaraeez
Then all i can think off is the bios. I have noticed that some bios's have an option to turn DPMS of from there (power management i think)
cwhobbes
Nope no DPMS in bios. And no other power settings that might be useful. Im beginning to think that XGL is causing the problem.
Arak
I know i'm new to linux but perhaps this might help. I had the same problem with Mephis 6.0. I went to their help site and i was directed (after shutting down what i had already mentioned above) to go to the 'KPowersave Settings' and shut those off. Is there something like this in Mandriva 2007? I'm wondering if it's the same thing.
ianw1974
The only other place I know for monitor settings is in the Control Center/Center however you want to spell it, and then Peripherals/Monitor/Power Control. Maybe that's it?!?
