mifan
when I try to update i get this message: Unable to update medium; it will be automatically disabled. Errors: ...retrieving failed: md5sum mismatch It's impossible to retrieve the list of new packages from the media `update_source'. Either this update media is misconfigured, and in this case you should use the Software Media Manager to remove it and re-add it in order to reconfigure it, either it is currently unreachable and you should retry later. I've tried different mirrors from the mirrors suggested in the mandriva control center, but all say the same thing... I can, however, add programs with the rpm manager. anyone else having this problem with the update manager, and how'd you fix it?
arctic
Can you please post an example of how you added the mirrors and an example of the entries you made into the required fields?
jgw
I think the system is down. easy urpmi says that there are no mirrors for 2007. I have tried to add w/mmc and have clicked on every url and it flunks. It did this incrementally. First it gave me a whole series of update media (through 7) even when I tried to get sources (main, contrib, etc). It is simply screwed, I fear................ (its been on, and of, for a week) If it gets fixed I hope somebody posts that as I am giving up for now.
ianw1974
The mirrors for 2007 official have appeared here now: http://easyurpmi.zarb.org/
mifan
I still get errors: as root: urpmi.addmedia --update updates ftp://carroll.cac.psu.edu/pub/linux/distr...a/main/updates/ with media_info/hdlist.cz added medium updates wrote config file [/etc/urpmi/urpmi.cfg] computing md5sum of existing source hdlist (or synthesis) retrieving source hdlist (or synthesis) of "updates"... ftp://carroll.cac.psu.edu/pub/linux/distr..._info/hdlist.cz found probed hdlist (or synthesis) as media_info/hdlist.cz ...retrieving done examining hdlist file [/var/cache/urpmi/partial/hdlist.updates.cz] examining synthesis file [/var/cache/urpmi/partial/hdlist.updates.cz] unable to parse hdlist file of "updates" examining synthesis file [/var/lib/urpmi/synthesis.hdlist.updates.cz] problem reading synthesis file of medium "updates" found 0 headers in cache removing 0 obsolete headers in cache wrote config file [/etc/urpmi/urpmi.cfg] unable to update medium "updates" I also tried urpmi.removemedia -a and then that step, but still no go. and I've tried to add via mcc add custom medium name:update ftp: ftp://carroll.cac.psu.edu/pub/linux/distr...tes/media_info/ [x] search this media for updates then I get this error-- Unable to add medium, errors reported: unable to parse hdlist file of "update" It's impossible to retrieve the list of new packages from the media `update'. neddie
The mirrors have been screwed for me too, (see other thread), but they seem to be slowly coming back online again now. Might be worth trying again.

ianw1974
Try using synthesis.hdlist.cz instead of hdlist.cz. I noticed problems with the hdlist for updates.
Guest Brainfryd
Hi all, I did some ftp browsing and found that some of the returns from easy-urpmi web driven setups are looking in the wrong places for hdlist.cz. This is what worked for me: Working 11 Oct 2006: urpmi.addmedia main ftp://carroll.cac.psu.edu/pub/linux/distr...ia/main/release with media_info/hdlist.cz urpmi.addmedia contrib ftp://carroll.cac.psu.edu/pub/linux/distr...contrib/release with media_info/hdlist.cz urpmi.addmedia plf-free ftp://ftp.free.fr/pub/Distributions_Linux...ase/binary/i586 with hdlist.cz urpmi.addmedia plf-nonfree ftp://ftp.free.fr/pub/Distributions_Linux...ase/binary/i586 with hdlist.cz urpmi.addmedia --update updates ftp://carroll.cac.psu.edu/pub/linux/distr...a/main/updates/ with media_info/synthesis.hdlist.cz Hope this helps Jeff

edwardp
I'm getting the same thing from the known mirrors, including those listed at Easy Urpmi: Unable to update medium, errors reported: unable to parse hdlist file of "Updates for Mandriva Linux 2007.0" It's impossible to retrieve the list of new packages from the media `Updates for Mandriva Linux 2007.0'. Either this update media is misconfigured, and in this case you should use the Software Media Manager to remove it and re-add it in order to reconfigure it, either it is currently unreachable and you should retry later. Although I will try synthesis.hdlist.cz instead of hdlist.cz, could the above error possibly be attributed to the fact that there are actually no new updates available for the installed software? If this is the case, then why all that text? It's obviously confusing to some. It should simply state no new updates are available. UPDATE: synthesis.hdlist.cz worked. :) Edited October 13, 2006 by edwardp
edwardp
Since Mandriva Linux 2007 was only released last week, I think it may take a short amount of time to get all of the mirrors straightened out. On my other computer, it was already using synthesis.hdlist.cz, but it was pointing to a mirror that was not yet set up for updates to 2007. I then changed the mirror to another one listed in Easy Urpmi and it retrieved and installed the updates perfectly.
