For the kde freeze: Open /usr/bin/startkde with your favorite text editor, go to the line that says:
# the splashscreen and progress indicator

ksplash --nodcop

and comment it out (#).

Good luck.

i did what u said but it just shows no splash at all, which i assume is what i commented out, and now it just crashes after that. i can move the mouse but cant click on aything.

I just installed the 7167 driver on Mandrake 10.1

No problems to report yet...........

I've installed 7167 on 10.2b3 with nop probles at all.

Plus I am getting better overall performance running gl-117 over 6129 previously installed.

So far so good

The random X lockups appeared yesterday for me. It's seems that the only workaround for this is to set the RenderAccel option to "false". Other than that, we can wait for NVIDIA to release a fix or downgrade the drivers.

This was posted in another thread, but I thought I should put it here as well.

In addition to the RenderAccel option we are discussing, I had to patch the new 7167 driver to avoid problems (hard screen locks) when running khelpcenter. Specifically, I installed this: NVIDIA_kernel-1.0-7167-1233959.diff.txt
