heh, thanks BVC, I was away there for awhile, been doing some playing around with waimea and ROX.

here's a shot:

click

anyone figured out how to make the dock autohide in waimea? this one of the things I really wish were more like Flux.

whoops, missed the second question. the five dockapps you were inquiring about are available at dockapps.org. they are wmcpuload, wmmemload, wmsmixer, wmnetload, and wmclockmon.

No prob! Sometimes you disappear for a brief peroid of time so that's why I responded

The shot looks good....but...uhmmm....do you like the rox toolbar icons? Just asking because I know you've seen the thread, heh...you posted in it;

http://www.mandrakeusers.org/viewtopic.php...highlight=iconsYou also asked about getting rox-panel on other desktops. Have you tried this with waimea's dock yet? Just curious. Idesk puts icons on all, with transparency....no panel. Seems to use a lot less resources as well....can't even here it start hardly, unlike rox-panel.

I can't get gkrellm on all desktops, and/or virtual. Does it not have the ability, or some restriction or something?

I'm not sure about the docks ability to autohide, but looking at docs and .waimearc I don't think so. Yet

oh ya, i forgot about that. the toolbar could use some cooler icons.

thanks for reminding me.

the panel appears on all desktops for me in waimea, although technically i am not using virtual desktops, i am just using 1 big desktop (6x1). i love it!

i'm gonna try the idesk thing too. i like the rox panel for its functionality, ie. i can drop files onto the archiver to zip and unzip, and there are some cool applets that will load into the panel as well, like the clock. I would like to keep using the dock but it's starting to bug me that I have it open all the time. jeez, autohide is such a common standard feature, it's kinda funny it's not in there by default.

hmmm... I wonder what's up with gkrellm then? Right now, I'm only using 1x4..it's all I need. But it's a pain to go from 4 to 1 for something in gkrellm.

yea, I always thought these zip apps should have a drop basket like d4x (nt).

Surely autohide's on the way, but I never used it in flux. I'd just make gkrellm smaller and leave it on-top.

Docker won't work with waimea either. The site claims that it only works with openbox.

oh great, show me another cool window manager. i am already playing with Flux and Waimea, now I can see myself tryin out Openbox...

they all have their advantages...

so gkrellm only shows up on one desktop?

I have to admit that I wish the desktops wrapped, ie. i could go from desk/area 4 to desk/area 1.

why can't you? I mean it's kinda messy and I'm sure XFree86/NVIDA love it, but just go at an angle through the corner of the screen and it pretty much does...for me.

made my first style for waimea: http://www.tymecc.net/oddityscreenshot.png

(the bg may look fimiliar, it's the larger image of what i use for my avatar. i made it :) )

i'm not sure if the font is showing up right. i have it set to arial, but what i really want is the default font, which i think is what's showing up. fonts are the part i had a bit of trouble with.

and i'm going to make another one based on this image of mine:

Tyme, have you looked at the pixmap stretching borders at all?

I've tried playing around with it, but none of the values I put in seem to make any difference in how the pixmap is stretched.

I even downloaded a style from the Waimea site that used it, but when I used the same values as in the example, no difference!

anyway, cool style! looks like it's glowing...

hmmm, maybe this can tempt you back.

I started x up in a Gnome session and was doing some playing around with themes, one was ThinIce and it's really nice.

anyway, I did some of my famous copy and paste in the Gimp et voila:

click

it still needs some work, I have not yet worked out how the stretching borders work, and I haven't themed all of the elements yet.

ANYONE who can give me an example of how the pixmap stretching is fine tuned will be my best friend forever.

but ya, I miss some stuff from Fluxbox. Unfortunately I am a serious sucker for eye-candy.

cheers all!
