Lowe
Is it just me who notices how slow KDE is? it seems to randomly lock up and takes a while for stuff to load, i can actually say that winxp loads a lot faster, maybe i just fuc*ed up somewhere, My pc Cpu:Athlon 2000+ Ram: 256mb ddr HD:40GB WD I don't think you need to know the rest. Any help would be appreciated.
spiedra
I think that is just the nature of it. I found kde to be much faster after upgrading to 3.2.3. and 3.3 would probably be even faster then that. Also, if you have a lot apps starting up, then will affect it as well. Ixthusdan
I have noticed all of this after the updates to 10OE. I think there is a problem with Mandrake's customizations in kde. FWIW, 10.1 beta is faster, almost normal. (Normal being PCLinux OS!)
arctic
it would be helpful, if you tell us, what is so slow in your kde and which apps hang up. maybe this can be fixed in sonem minutes. :)
Peppercorn
It could be related to your resolv.conf file and/or your /etc/hosts file With my computer as soon as I set up my network for the first time KDE takes forever to load programs. If I change the /etc/hosts file to the correct DNS numbers it causes programs to open immediately. If my DNS number is 192.168.0.7 the /etc/hosts file should look like this..... EX: 127.0.0.1 localhost 192.168.0.7 (my computers name on the network) The /etc/resolv.conf should be setup with the numbers of your ISP Providor, for ex nameserver 205.15.254.240 (or whatever your ISP numbers are) Get these two files right and the speed difference is incredibly different!
