I am perplexed as to what has happened to your system.

I personally at this point would reboot my machine with the first CD in it and do an upgrade of 10. This might not be the best thing to do but I have come to the end of my experience in this direction. Someone out there may have a better solution. As far as I know an upgrade will replace the missing bits, but I offer no guarantee. It shouldn't take very long to do but don't rush into this option.

I've got to go to work now but I'll look in a little later.

i think what he means is simply placing the mdk10 boot-cd into your cd-drive and then not selecting →"install" but →"advanced". there you can repair the system, if all is broken. your files should remain in place, but you should nevertheless back-up your sensitive data, just in case...

good luck!

p.s: next time you update the system, go to easyurpmi.net and follow the instructions. this is the easiest and safest way to keep your system in top-contidtion. ;)

ive been having the same problem. to solve it you need to install the menudrake and drakconf package. the package is found on the linux install cd. to install them follow those steps:

1- log on as a normal user and open a terminal.

2- type in "su" so u can switch to root.

3- insert the first install cd in the cd-rom.

4- open the cd through the terminal (mnt/cdrom/Mandrake/RPMS/)

5- then search for "drakconf" package by typing "ls drakconf*"

6- after you find the drakconf package type "rpm -ivh @" @ stands for the complete name of the package for example:

"rpm -ivh drakconf-9.1-11mdk.i586.rpm"

7- it may ask you to install couple of packages before you can install the drakconf package then you will manually do the same thing for the required packages.

8-when you finish installing the drakconf package install the menudrake package in the same way.

9- when you finish installing the packages type "update-menus -v"

10- exit the terminal and check it out.

if it didnt work plz write back and if it did work then "Who's The Man? A-MAN"
