ezroller
can anyone tell me why linux file sharing apps suck so bad? I guess I'm just venting, but I cannot find a single one that is worth using, let alone will allow me to download something. grrrrrrr..... liquidzoo
not exactly an answer to your question, but I use gtk-Gnutella and it seems to work just fine for me. I think I got it from Tucows.
ramfree17
i think its the current state of the gnutella network. giFT was supposed to be excellent but the number of users are still low. ciao!
ezroller
I tried giFT, but have been unable to get it to work on my 9.0 system yet. I had it goin great in 8.2, but for some reason cannot get it to work in 9.0.
johnnyv
use dcgui, you will find stuff, lots of stuff to download seriously. http://dc.ketelhot.de/ I have been using it for ages the best file sharing app i have found for linux by a large margin. And i have tried everything, direct connect was my favorite filesharing method when i used windows so that was a bonus. There are usually rpms in the cooker i think, i know plf has them, if you have set plf/textar/cooker(u know the usual :) ) in urpmi you should just need to. su then urpmi dcgui Stating the obvious of course (it's my specialty you know :P )

ezroller
hmm...stupid question, but I don't know what I should do. I'm trying to install the file "dcgui-0.2beta5-1" and I get this error message: Installation failed: libGLcore.so.1 is needed by dcgui-0.2beta5-1 and the only packages I find with that file in it are driver files for Nvidia cards, and I do not have an Nvidia card. what shoud I do? Ronin
I've had pretty good success with Limewire and Lopster.
johnnyv
Oh that version is alot newer than my version i wonder what has changed. I have a nvidia card, but the website mentions nothing about needed nvidia. Check out this link http://dcgui.berlios.de/forum/viewtopic.ph...ght=libglcore+1 apparently installing with --nodeps works. MottS
I use LimeWire a bit but the best one is EDONKEY. You can find TONS of movies (avi format) in any language, TONS of full albums (not just one song, the whole album!) and it is fully cross-platform -> Mac, Win, *nix. I like it! Download the CORE here --> http://www.edonkey2000.com/downloads.html And the Frontend (GUI) here --> http://ed2k-gtk-gui.sourceforge.net/core.shtml MOttS

What is good for me is that there are NZ only dc hubs as I can only download/upload 5gig international but unlimited national so i can stay in a NZ only hub and not go over my limit. Not that i download my limit every month
MottS
Yes, eDonkey IS slow but there is more choice, this is why I use it. You have to download 15-20 things in the same time so that the average transfer rate increase. You also need to be patient .. Right now I dl about 15 divx and the average transfer rate is 50 kB/s. MOttS
