Only messed with it for a total of about 30 minutes but will hopefully figure it out this weedend or sometime soon. I've been using xorg since it's release, and haven't had any problems with it. Only thing I can think of for your problem is reinstalling the nvidia drivers. Which X server does alpha trans? That's the one I want to tinker with. I was just bored and thought I'd check it out, though it's not useful at all, but rather anoying, yet, cool none the less.
