null
I use a Logitech "Cordless Elite Duo" mouse & keyboard on my win2k box, and I was wondering how cordless mice & keyboards work under the latest linux distros. I'm not really crazy about the logitech kb - it has tons of buttons I have no use for. I just like to use a keyboard to type stuff, and it seems like the few times I need a function key, the keyboard function keys don't work - the F-lock may have been pressed or something... But, besides all that, I have gotten used to laying back in my chair with my feet up on the desk and my kb in my lap. Under windoze, I had to install the logitech software, so I was wondering if cordless mice and/or keyboards "just work" under linux without any hassles? I searched the board but didn't find anything about it. PS: I may end up getting a corded kb & mouse, PS2 or usb, but I'm still curious about cordless ones. tyme
PS/2 should work flawlessly. USB you -might- have to work with a little, but i highly doubt it.

Guest adpsimpson
To get special buttons on either a keyboard or mouse working under Linux, check out http://zodiak.f2o.org/extra.php?id_extra=2 for a clear tutorial.
Guest adpsimpson
Sorry, step 4 in the tutorial is normally unnecessary - simply use KControl>accessibility>keyboard shortcuts>command shortcuts to make the new key, say F24, do what you want. Guest Bryan
I am using a Logitech usb receiver wireless kb with Mandrake 9.2 and there is often a considerable lag time when typing. This occurs in Email and word processors.
alloneword
A couple of people here are using a wireless logitech mouse and/or keyboard. Are these the bluetooth ones?? Like here: http://tinyurl.com/5swwc Cheers.
adamw
for ones that end up plugging into a USB or PS/2, there should be no problems (or none more than with an equivalent wired device). The operating system sees the plug in the USB or PS/2 port, it couldn't give a damn if the connection from the plug to the actual hardware is achieved by a wire, a radio or a complicated system of homing pigeons, all it cares about is the electrical signal coming in through the port. Bluetooth is more of a hassle.
