paul
load the modules manually in gentoo edit /etc/modules.autoload.d/kernel-2.4 I can't remember where its located in mandy I use hotplug, which is supposed to dynamically load modules, however the HID, and usbmouse modules are required before hotplug starts list them in modules.autoload and all is good ;)

liquidzoo
I have some weird errors with my new wireless mouse too (I am using Mandrake). For some reason, it just stops working after a seemingly random period of time. If I click a button, it works fine for a while, then freezes again. Mine's a Logitech. Part of the Wireless Access Duo ($59.99 at Best Buy). I realize this isn't my thread, but if anyone has any input about this issue, I'd greatly appreciate it. bvc
Not sure???? Section "InputDevice" Identifier "Mouse1" Driver "mouse" Option "Protocol" "ExplorerPS/2" Option "Device" "/dev/mouse" Option "ZAxisMapping" "6 7" Option "Buttons" "7" EndSection Is that different than yours? Oh, in mandrake/kernel-2.6 it's /etc/modprobe.preload. With kernel-2.4 /etc/modules. Be sure to put mousedev in there.
