Darkelve
From the Mandrake website: "December, 19th 2003 - Try Mandrake Cooker with Linux 2.6! - A Mandrake Linux Cooker snapshot (as of 20031217) is now available. It provides the very new Linux 2.6.0-test11 kernel, XFree 4.4pre, Gcc 3.3.2 and KDE 3.2pre, on one CD ISO Image. This is the first brick for the next Mandrake, so don't delay: test now and report bugs! I'm a gnomer so excuse me for not understanding......is 3.1.94 3.2? Because I can get that from my current cooker source.

When they think most of the bugs are fixed, it will be 3.2 Notice in the Xfree 4.4 beta is actually 4.3.99.x KDE is giving themselves a little more room, i.e. .94 instead of .99 in XFree :D Depending on the day, I will download 3 to 5 KDE updates each day. Ixthusdan
ther's a terrible picture of Warley! :D The sources aren't configured correctly, because I can't get nvidia to compile. All I've messed with so far. I'm going to try to break it later. B)
Guest kuchwas
Are you using the nvida patch from minion.de? It has worked fine for me on all the 2.6 kernels since test 5.
Ixthusdan
No, I am using the nvidia program. Where do I get the patch?
bvc
well i had probs on what?...2.6.0-0.1? or something but have been fine since 2.6.0-0.3, but now I'm vanilla w/supermount patch again. The nvidia patch is very easy, and cool actually. I can now boot to three diff kernels all with nvidia. http://www.mandrakeusers.org/index.php?sho...ernel-2\.6 XFree? randomly blanks the screen. Not bad, not often, sometimes twice an hour but then nothing for 2 hours and it comes rt back with a keystroke or mouse movement no prob. I think it's gnome related because I was in xfce4 earlier and it didn't happen. Shocking actually......I went to update a few gnome pkgs and the new XFree was a dep :o ....there's a new one. I think it was 2.6.0.0-1, first non-test release, The blanking? No screensaver wierdness? I use fluxbox primarily and sometines the screensaver dockapp hangs around, even if I log out and go to test KDE or IceWM. XFree deps for new Gnome stuff does not really surprise me. Ive seen it with KDE and ICE. All the desktops / wmgrs still run on top of X. Big focus in Cooker seems to be KDE 3.2, XFree 4.4 GCC 3.3.2, and kernel 2.6 as an option to 2.4 for 10.0 desktop. Kernel 2.6 was just a plaything, but since 2.6 stable got Linus' blessing, the attention from MDK folks has picked up considerably.

Version is the key word here. Thanks for the ideas though :D
