  1. uhm, ok i'll do that, sadly i dont have internet at home either :(, so only tomorrow probably. as for the mouse set, its this one.
  2. I installed MDK 9.2 but since the installation process didnt recognized my usb mouse i switched to PS/2, wich went fine, and finished installing. The problem is, i cant keep it like that, i need to have the keyboard/mouse plugged by usb, but, sadly the mouse doesnt work. i've tried chaging the configuration in everyway possible but it still doesnt move, the strange thing is that the keyboard, wich is connected the exact same way, works perfectly. its a microsoft weirless mouse/keyboard combo. any ideas fellas?
  3. thanks Steve. i cant seem to find the id file and i have all binutils installed, anyway, i installed a newer version of rp-pppoe wich replaced the adsl-start script and that problem seems to have disappered. still cant get the damn thing to connect, but at least i got rid of that annoying 'root' problem :)
  4. Just installed Mandrake 9.1 and, as usual everytime i do a new install, i'm having a lot of trouble getting my speedtouch modem to work. So, i did all the usual stuff and when i try adsl-start i get: well, i AM running it as root :? all the permissions seem fine but still, it doesnt start. help?
  5. XMMS for mp3s, XINE for DVDs and mplayer for other file formats.
  6. i was planning to use it mainly on gaming and to try some win apps (mainly quicken) but as i couldn't get it to work i ended up subscribing to transgaming winex. Two hours later i incidently got winex cvs working, so i got both now :D
  7. thanks ramfree, but i took a look at DOlson's tutorial and followed it, according to him, this is a NVIDIA card problem related and, even though i don't have a NVIDIA card, it worked  anyway, its compiled and installed, just not working yet
  8. Installing winex from cvs i get this error during compilation: I don't have any clue about this, can anyone help? oh, im using 9.1 rc1 ...
  9. alright o/ too bad CM4 is about to be released, not enough time to play them both properly :(
  10. i have the exact same problem, has anyone been lucky enough to have this sorted?
  11. http://freshmeat.net/projects/lilo/?topic_id=139 altough it should also come with your distro cds.
  12. well, thanks for the help guys, but after trying all sorts of combinations i have given up and reinstalled both XP and mdk. i got rid of that first partition and put linux in the first partition of the second disk and it all works well now. yes, it makes two of us :)
  13. i tried to run lilo as ramfree said, it all goes well until: Boot other: /dev/hda5, on /dev/hda, loader CHAIN Fatal: Partition entry not found i dont get it...
  14. I tried that, but no luck, i still don't get a XP/windows/NT/whatever option in LILO, just linux. :( Thanks anyway.
  15. I have installed mdk 9.1 rc1 and i also have XP running but something is wrong with LILO as i dont get the option to boot windows just something like this: linux linux-nonfb failsafe floppy I have messed around with LILO and edited some lines but it obviously didn't work as i still have the same menu, LILO looks like this now: boot="/dev/hda" map=/boot/map vga=normal default="linux" keytable=/boot/pt-latin1.klt prompt nowarn timeout=50 message=/boot/message menu-scheme=wb:bw:wb:bw image="/boot/vmlinuz" label="linux" root="/dev/hdc1" initrd="/boot/initrd.img" append="quiet devfs=mount hdd=ide-scsi acpi=off" vga=788 read-only image=/boot/vmlinuz label="linux-nonfb" root=/dev/hdc1 initrd=/boot/initrd.img append="devfs=mount hdd=ide-scsi acpi=off" read-only image=/boot/vmlinuz label="failsafe" root=/dev/hdc1 initrd=/boot/initrd.img append="failsafe devfs=nomount hdd=ide-scsi acpi=off" read-only other=/dev/fd0 label="floppy" unsafe other=/dev/hda1 label="XP" table=/dev/hda image="/dev/hda1" label="xp2" root="/dev/hdc1" initrd="/boot/initrd.img" append="quiet devfs=mount hdd=ide-scsi acpi=off" read-only I have two disks organised like this: hda - small partition just for the boot manager hda5 - windows XP hdc5-FAT partition hdc1- linux / hdc7-/home So, i was wondering if someone could tell me what did i do wrong in that lilo.conf file.
