  1. I think that worked!! I printed internally through the server to the printer, just gotta verify satellite offices can now. Thanks for all the help.
  2. Ok, when I type ipp://ip_address/ipp in windows it throws an error. You said Linux would need to be configured the same with IPP url printing. So I should delete it as a network printer and add it as some other printer?
  3. I want the Linux box to be the print server and my windows boxes to print through it. It's a network printer and I can print from the Linux box it's installed. The reason being, it's a routing issue with a satellite office. So I have the Linux box outside the router as a go between for the satellite users.
  4. I'm not sure if this needs to go in "Networking" but.... I have a virtual Mandriva box that has CUPS and a networked HP 8150 printer on it. I can printer from the server but can't seem to get it installed anywhere else. I'm using windows XP clients, could someone help me out with the final process. Thanks P.S. I've looked at the management page at localhost:631 and the printer is there, active and waiting on jobs.
  5. Well I got it to work with the Intel drivers, only thing is...is that I can't change the resolution any higher that 800x600 and when I set it to that, it moves the screen instead of shrinking the view to fit the monitor Cancel that, just after I posted this the same thing began to happen.
  6. yes Also, when I ran glxinfo | grep direct I got the error Error: unable to open display (null)
  7. OK, i've reinstalled and the video comes up at the login. Unfortunately when KDE loads and I move the mouse the screen FREAKS out. the resolution is to low for the screen so when I move the mouse it moves the desktop. I've done the editions that ian suggested and it's still freaking out. Anybody got any ideas? If you still would like to see my xorg.conf I can post it in a separate reply.
  8. I am also having Intel Video Card issues. Has anyone gotten this resolved? The card is and Intel 845. Any ideas. The problems occur when I tell it to user the Intel 845 graphic card and make it test in the install. the error states An error occurred: (EE) Failed to load the module "glx" (once-only module, 136033795) (EE) I810(0): No Video BIOS modes for chosen depth Try to change some parameters. I can complete the install but X doesn't load I just get the prompt. Yall got any ideas? [moved from Installing Mandriva by spinynorman]

  10. I'm having the exact same problem on three different computers and two different cds 10.1 gives me the error on all 3 computers and 10.2 LE gives me the error on only 1. I agree that it might be the cds for the 10.1 model but on the 10.2 cds (that work on 2/3 computers) do you think it's a hardware problem (I think it is btw) and if it is how can I diagnose exactly what's hanging the installation up. Thanks..
  11. This looks GREAT I think this is exactly what I need, if anybody has anymore documentation on the subject let me know. I really appreciate everyone's feedback.
  12. You pretty much hit the nail on the head, with a non M$ client not only are licensing costs fewer but virus threats are fewer also. As far as dumbing down the users go it's pretty much been already implemented. We have a few site that hold all of their specialized apps (excluding office) and with this solution hopefully it would make our life easier. Your friend and yourself when you tried to implement this, where did you find the documentation or was there none. Is there anyway that you could send me what you have as far as documentation, if you can I will post my e-mail for you thanks.
  13. I received more information........ The reason we would have a Red Hat Server is for the thin clients to network boot and the Red Hat server will be a PXE Server holding the "image" and rolling it out every time the thin clients boot. Does anyone have any experience with this? Success or Failure? Thanks
  14. Lan only and most likely not 3D Accelerated stuff
  15. That's one option we were considering, I really appreciate all of yall input.
