    2 questions

For the mouse: kde control center > perephirals > mouse > single click opens files and folders As for your 2nd question, don't know, but you can give it a shot? Theoritically I suppose it could work.
  2. That's an error you usually get from ftp sources you've added that is temporaily down. Have you installed any ftp sources? Probably when you install something from CD3 and it grabs the dependency of the ftp sources, that's when you are getting that error. Usually it will solve itself, or delete the source and add a different one. All this you can do using the gui if you are not comfortable with the console. Or if you want to try the console, use the Easy urpmi formatt to add a different ftp mirror.
  3. My lynksis nic and my old Hvale DVDRom both said Linux compatible. The nic even had Linux drivers.
  4. I don't think it is a driver issue because I also have Nvidia Gforce FX 5200 and works perfectly and worked right after installing the latest Nvidia driver. I reckon a hardware issue. Seeing you are getting a new mobo by the end of the week, it will definatly be worth trying. It shouldn't be giving you this many problems as Nvidia support is really good!
  5. You should post your suggestion in public. Someone else with the same problem may find that useful. [copy of preceding post removed by spinynorman - please use 'add reply' button]
  6. I remember when I first used gaim back in Mandrake 8.1 on another pc, my buddy list didn't come up so I had to manualy add them in, but once I did that, then they always downloaded when I had to reinstall gaim after putting Mandrake on my new pc or whenever I upgraded Mandrake. Could it be you have it set to only show buddies online and no one is online at the time? Seems like a silly question, but is good to start easy then build upwards.
  7. I suspect it will be the same with hotmail, but now with Google getting in the email market, if they keep their pop mail service free, I would think MSN and Yahoo will also drop their fees.
  8. Ahhh, Commodore 64 I have to say my favorite pc i've owned along with the VIC 20. The good old days of saving data onto a tape drive or a 5 1/4 floppy. Wrinting games in basic. I'd love to have one again.
  9. That's good idea I reckon John. I reckon it's hardware myself. Not every pc is exactly the same. I've been using Mandrake since 8.1 and based on my Mandrake experience, this is the best version IMHO. In fact, I can't find any bugs in it of course after downloading all uodates, but even out of the box, no bugs. Only one I can think of would be using xmms under kde, but I don't use kde so it doesn't matter to me. My wife loves using it. She finds it so easy and trouble free, and very slick looking. She was a long time WIndows advocate, until Linux came along.
  10. That command takes you out of a WM and puts you into the command line. Why not launch a console directly from within a WM, such as Aterm or Eterm, or KDE Shell?
  11. In Gkrellm, there is an app launcher plugin you can get. In addition to launching apps, you can also launch commands. I have the halt command set in the plugin so all I gotta do is click on the halt button and that's it! Too easy!
  12. I'm not sure if it's a gaim problem, but I would update to the latest version .81. It's always getting updated as it's on a 3 week release cycle.
  13. It's 4 days now and the original poster of this thread has not bothered to come back to post his results after the useful info was given. In fact, he did his 2 posts to say he was leaving and he left, which only re-enforces my belief he didn't want to be helped at all. If there is anything useful about this thread is that I am accomulating post points. That's it. As for the useful info that was given, he didn't ask for it. It was given out of our generosity which I feel shouldn't have been given until he made a formal request for help.
  14. Fluxbox is my main WM. I've been playing with XFce, but still love Flux.
  15. It was recommended to me by someone from work. My first version was 8.1. It wasn't a good intro as it was really buggy, but stuck with it, then went to 8.2 and that really got me hooked and i've stayed. Tried Libranet and Redhat, but i've always gone back to Mandy.
  16. The info you posted is one of the ways of starting applications when Fluxbox starts. If you list your apps in there like illustrated, it should work.
  17. I understand this to be a headache. Any possibility you can go through a nic?

    ATI Drivers

Don't know what fglrxconfig. Try opening a console and as root type: XFdrake This will bring up your X configurator and you should be able to chose the right driver.
  19. Best thing is do a search for offical and community. You'll find many different opinions on what CE is compared to OE. Ciao!
  20. For the start up, just type gdesklets & instead of gdesklets GoodWeather.display & As for the N/A, if you right click on the Weather desklet, click configure you have to congure your city using the appropriate code for it. Once you have it configured to your city then it should work.
  21. Probably better, would be to make another directory as normal user in your home and untar there.
  22. Also get all of your updates or Install 10 Official.
  23. If will ask whether or not you want to format the /home. And it will give you an option to use existing Linx partitions. Should all be good.
