  1. Hi, all, I'm planning to install MDK Linux on a desktop computer and want to buy a USB wireless network card for it to connect to my wireless router. Can you guys recommend a few brands that you know work with MDK Linux? BTW, please also mention whether the driver of the card needs to be downloaded or is already included in MDK Linux. Thanks a lot.
  2. I used to have alias in .bashrc: alias rm='rm -f' that does rm without asking. But it seems no longer work in Mdk 10.0. Does bash no longer allow command overwriting using .bashrc? anyone noticed same behavior?
  3. Whenever I try to access a site (say www.google.com), the browser (Firefox 0.9) stays blank for quite a while (up to a few minutes!) before displaying anything. The browser status bar shows "Resolving host www.google.com...". Anyone encountered similar problem? Any suggestions? Thanks
  4. I couldn't find package manager (not sure whether it's called this, it's the GUI based tool that allows me delete/add packages), probably forgot to select during the installation. Does anyone know how can I get it back? Thanks.
  5. Forget about it! I just figured out that it is because I copied my .bashrc from windows (cygwin). dos2unix type of error.
  6. I used to have export PS1='$PWD>' to change my xterm prompt to display the current path. But after moved to Mdk10.0, even though the prompt still displays the current path. but the cursor is at the beginning of the prompt string. Anyone else encountered that? is there a fix? Thanks. moved to Terminal and Shell Programming by LiquidZoo
  7. I have installed Mdk 10.0, but somehow my windows (win2k, FAT32) partition is not mounted (probably because I bypassed some steps during the installation). Now how can I mount it back? I looked at the applications I have, there seems no tool to probe partitions. Thanks for help.
  8. Thanks for the info. I have 320MB Ram on the laptop. When I install, will I be asked to preserve the /home partition? Will it know to re-install only over the Linux partition (namely keep my win2k untouched)? Is there anything I need to do before installation?
  9. Celeron 800, 320MB memory Anyone has hardware as low as this to run Mdk 10.0? and how is the performance? Thanks.
  10. I have a dual-boot machine with win2k and mandrake 8.0. Is it possible to upgrade from 8.0 to 10.0? BTW, is celeron 800 laptop too slow to run 10.0? Thanks.
