  1. much obliged. i prefer downloading isos than getting everything through a browser. :) ciao!
  2. to those using Arch and is active in their boards, when is v0.7 slated for release? i promised myself to make arch the second distro that i will try but i dont want to download everything (no usable internet connection at home). thanks. ciao!
  3. does rox count? you can try file-roller. i think there was another one i tried but i now forgot which. :( ciao!
  4. /* must. stop. myself. from. commenting. on. that. one. */ ciao!
  5. near-a-decade? where did you get an idea like that? oh, i spent more than 10 minutes on that. i think i devoted at least 5 hours reading the faq pages from iink.net and all it got me are a couple of simple recipes that doesnt want to work the way i want them to. i was using anon's server back then so when he reformatted it i also said good bye to procmail. ciao!
  6. thanks aru. i think that will work just fine. i wonder if there is a cygwin port so i can test it while im here in the office. as for procmail, it was way above my range of thought. i even printed the whole faq so i can read it at home. i think it was made for loonixers like you. ciao! [edit] google to the rescue!!!! -> http://www.fpx.de/fp/Software/UUDeview/
  7. anybody know of a utility/script that can harvest the attachments from a mbox file? my highschool friends are sending me scanned pix for our reunion this coming year for collation and it is tedious to save then one by one. sylpheed-claws has a save-all functionality but it is still tedious to open each message one by one. i am hoping for something that i will just feed the mail file to and it will traverse it and save the attachments in a directory. thanks. ciao!

    ogg to mp3?

i did not notice anybody mentioning this but ogg->mp3 or mp3->ogg conversion is not recommended because both are lossy format. something like you wont get the quality of the original anyway you do. or is it still the case today? ciao!
  9. i hate threads like these. i think i am on a worse boat than DM. ciao!
  10. and i dont even know what that means if not for the comments. heck, even with the comments i cant even fathom what they do. hehehehehe... ciao!
  11. i knew you only need a little prodding. sometimes backups just add to the hassle. and its up to the user which one he wants to employ. :) ok, im putting you up only by an itsy-bitsy step because you are slipping because the old gAru would not need to be prodded to list down all options (even if some of those seem like gibberish and only you can understand :P). now get back on the scripting sweatshop! ciao!
  12. gAru, you disappoint me :( . i thought you are going to teach us how to use ed for this scenario so you wont need to have use a second file (only ed's buffer). im taking down your guru ratingg by a itsy-bitsy-teenie-weenie notch for this one. ciao!
  13. oh yeah, that one too. im just waiting for aru to come here and start using ed for inline editing. ciao!
  14. in vi i do this :%s/^M//g note that ^M is produced by doing the following combination : ctrl+v ctrl+m you can also do this in batch using sed. ciao!
  15. yes. and if you are like me who suck at regular expressions then having somebody handy to teach you (like aru for example if you can get his attention long enough ) the intricacies of RE+sed. not everything i scripted worked the way i planned them to but the simple expressions work well enough. :) ciao!
  16. thanks, ill take a look at it when im done doing my answers for my assignment. :) hey paul, loudas seems to be down... ciao!
  17. thanks for the input. and iph, ill borrow your style for the duration of my course if its ok with you. btw, anybody know how to do those sub-menu thingies wherein if you click an entry on the menu it shows a submenu of links? does it require javascript? can it be done via css? ciao!
  18. i promised to myself ill install archlinux when v0.7 comes out. i hope i can make do of that promise because i really need to branch out my linux knowledge. :( ciao!
  19. its an implicit invitation extended by the options. ciao!
  20. i have 10.0 and k3b doesnt burn. i still havent looked at it in much detail yet. but the drive works in windows so i dont think its faulty hardware yet. ciao!
  21. thanks. i already saw some of it but not all. i guess ill take one for the moment (submission of first tma is on the 20th) and just modify the css file when i find something more fitting (something that i could learn from here). thanks. ciao!
  22. anybody have a spare (and decent) css file lying around their hard drive that i can borrow? i am currently in need of a website for my course submissions and one of the things being graded in the rubric is the layout. paul has graciously let me squat in his loudas server indefinitely so i got that part covered. now for those who does not yet know it, i am artistically handicapped. learning css is one thing while designing a good layout is another. one is a skill and another one is a talent. anyway, what im hoping somebody would be kind to share to me is a css that would allow a simple navigation bar on the middle and a decent/modest scheme on the main part. i dont need snazzy graphics so im leaning more on a template that would allow me to customize the menus by just editing some text. that way i can concentrate more on the content. something like this. frankly if i dont get anything then that would be my layout. :o ciao!
  23. always have for me. i dont know if my thread about my crusade on having it run on mandrake still exists. :) how is it now? i dont know. i left the budgeting and auditing to my wife. she does a good job better than me anyway. ciao!
  24. assuming you do have bash on that server, either have your administrator change your default shell (i think you can get away with editing the passwd for this or use usermod for a 'cleaner' operation) or invoke bash whenever you need it. ciao!
