  1. The executable is just firefox if you use the tarball... which works fine for me. I just tried out 0.9rc by the way. Maybe off topic, lots of people have complained about the new theme, I personally think it's ok.

    Mandrake 9.2 or 10

    10. I'm using it and I haven't had any problems so far.
  3. Assuming you are using KDE, CTRL-ALT-L will get your screen locked as well.
  4. I personally think the command line to urpmi is pretty cool and I tend not to use the media manager that much (which is pretty cool too though). But anyway, you'll get what you want by adding the following lines to the beginning of /etc/urpmi/urpmi.cfg { no-clean } For the full description and set of options you may also read the man pages for urpmi.cfg...
  5. I'm sure you know this, but you may also get info and/or install packages individually by ommiting --auto-select and specifying the package names of your choice. For instance: urpmi gaim evolution The following will also give you a pretty good description of each package: urpmq -i gaim evolution Anyway, you'll get this and much more by reading the man pages for these commands. These are just the options I tend to use more often.
  6. It's so easy I don't even bother running the gui locally most of the time...
  7. I usually do this to get info on the latest updates: urpmq -r --auto-select --update Then I fetch and install them with: urpmi --auto-select --update Also, you may want to update your media before doing the above, using the following command: urpmi.update -a If you want all media included, not only update media, then just remove --update from the commands: urpmq -r --auto-select urpmi --auto-select I hope it helps!
  8. Yeah, it seems they always have to go together anyway, so you may as well stick them both into the same package... cool.
  9. Yep, I got something like that when I installed 0.78 from cooker, then I installed libgaim-remote 0.78 from cooker as well and I was all set.
  10. SwiftDeath, regarding mldonkey and your searches coming out empty... are you behind a firewall? If so then you need to open a few ports for the newtworks to go through. One other problem that comes to my mind would be an empty list of servers (file servers.ini in ~/.mldonkey), but that shouldn't be the case if you used urpmi to install the package available at PLF.
  11. I use mldonkey, which is a multiprotocol P2P. I have only used it for the donkey, overnet and bittorrent networks though. There's an rpm at PLF and you may install it wtih: urpmi mldonkey It then runs using: mlnet There are a few guis for it, but it comes with a web gui which is pretty good and is the one I use.
  12. Here is a fun article! It's either a joke or the author really deserves his MCSE... :) http://www.divisiontwo.com/articles/mcse2.htm
  13. Yep, I do know :) Gnome and KDE are supported in both distros, but I still think FC focus more on Gnome and Mandrake on KDE, so I just went with the default. Things somehow seem to work better that way.
  14. I was a big fan of FC1, but I was not able to install FC2 as it kept hanging on me after selecting the language and installation method... and I did try all of them. I had no problems with FC1 before. So I'm back to Mandrake (which I was using before FC1). I agree FC looks way more professional than Mandrake and is the most polished and consistent desktop out-of-the-box I have ever used. It has a great user community as well. I do miss that. Mandrake is pretty good too though, and actually feels faster than FC. I was using Gnome with FC1 and now I'm using KDE with Mandrake though. KDE is pretty good as a desktop, but its applications are a bit "brain-dead" in my opinion. Though I miss gnome's look-and-feel, I can still use all "gnome/gtk" applications (evolution, gaim, gimp, etc) so that's ok, I can get the best of both worlds. Mandrake is a great distro as well.
