Hmmm it seems to be that I tried to write text to the cd, which I used to be able to do when I used windows. I guess I can't in linux but thats not a big deal. My burner also works now! I also screwed my configuration trying to figure out what was wrong, but I messed up a partition and ended up resetting everything anyways. Thanks for being there in that IRC channel, SwiftDeath

Anthlon and Intel are just different companies that make proccessor. AMDs run faster but use more power and are more money for your performance. An AMD 64 is a new type of processor architecture that requires a different type of OS to be ran properly. Intel will probably make an equilvanlent to the AMD 64 soon. Hope that expalins it, SwiftDeath

Thanks anyways, I decided it probably just be best to reinstall mandrake anyways. I'll do a better job nextime. I installed it this time with a big /usr filesystem so no need to worry there. Thanks anyways BVC, I did gain some more linux knowledge in this failed attempt, and now my burner will probably work again.

Well, I finally attempted it. I was doing pretty great until I messed up so I pressed clear all... (which I thought meant just the partition I added incorrectly.) And to my luck everything is now deleted. I am using my moms computer, before I turn off the computer is their any last hope to save my other computer?

Right now I have a cdrom burner that used to work 2 weeks ago. It could burn audio and data cds. I accidentally pressed default under K3B settings and now, I can no longer burn audio tracks. When I try to burn an audio track I'll get a error like this (in the debugging output text box) The normal error says it can't decode the audio tracks. Here are my permissions under k3b setup. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling the program 2 times. I use to have an error saying it was looking for a cdrdao driver but the nice pople in the #musb channel helped me with that one. I am using K3b version that u get from urpmi which is, 0.11.6cvs Thanks for the help in advance, SwiftDeath P.S. And remember it use to burn and it currently can still burn data cds. I beleive the error lies within the audio codecs

Hmmm... I have no clue how to backup my files, how would I do it. I'd like to that first. I just'd like to back up some documents and mp3 files. I dunno if I'm ready to try this. I think I'll do it streeters way, xbobs way sounded really weird and hard. BVC... I have no clue what this means. Is that a step I add to Streeter's and where do I add it\ Btw Thanks All. Xbob and bvc, thanks for the help anyways. I truly appreciate any help at all. Thanks Streeter. I gonna try once I get some files backed-up. P.S. Xbob, I hope you get your problem solved too.

Darkelve.... thats a pretty descent commercial, but it may be a little long. The average user doesn't pay attention to adds normally for more than 10 seconds so you have to make your points fast. I can't remember where I read that, but I beleive its true. Most webusers have also programmed themselves to ignore banners and pop-ups. I am one of them, lol.

Because then was then. And I didn't know what linux was then. I was like all those people living in the matrix lol. Blind to windows. I signed it, like aussie, even though I probably won't play it for that long.

You should try looking in the facts. Very usefull info there. Btw... When your using linux you don't need an anti-virus program. Thats a plus!

hmm. I have no /usr filssytem. Just / and home. I guess I try it with just making that one bigger.

My / filesystem is getting super low on space. My home partition has more room than an ant in an olypmic size swimming pool. How can I change the sizes so that their more balanced out. I hope I can fix this because its getting really hard to install stuff. I asked in the IRC chat cause I thought this was a small issue, but I guess not, but they said some people here have did it. So any help is welcome. Here is how much space I used over all of my harddrive. [andrew@localhost andrew]$ df -h Filesystem Size Used Avail Use% Mounted on /dev/ide/host0/bus1/target0/lun0/part1 5.8G 5.3G 251M 96% / /dev/ide/host0/bus1/target0/lun0/part6 86G 9.6G 76G 12% /home Thanks, SwiftDeath [moved from Software by spinynorman]
