  1. I posted about it bvc. I used mkisofs to create the iso's and then found out that wouldn't create a bootable cd. So I redid the first one using dd, burned the iso and was able to boot from it. So I deleted the 1st iso from the server and replaced it with the new iso.
  2. okay, someone on the irc channel helped me figure this out. I used mkisofs to create the isos but mkisof doesn't create a bootable disk. dd does. So I created a new ISO, burned it and it booted with no prob. The other cds shoud be fine. I'm going to upload the new cd1 right now. the md5sum for it is 26d1d87e39ca0b58d4437bea53042d07. Sorry about that. I learned something new.
  3. Okay, anon has agreed to host the Suse ISO's. I am in the process of uploading them now. The first ISO is already in downloads/Misc folder. I'll be uploading all 5 but please be patient as it's time consuming. I only needed the first two for my install so that should get you started. And thanks to bvc for giving the cds to anon to give to me.
  4. In case you have noticed, our logo looks a bit different this year. It should be easier to read against the penquin background now thanks to efforts by member cjc. He has tweaked the cumalative efforts previously put forth by other members here. Prior to this it was moderator scoopy who shined up the board's logo and added the three dimensional look to it. The original design was the brainchild of admin paul, who is also to thank for making the script work to allow those IE challenged visitors to view the transparent png file and our banner as it was meant to be.
  5. Personally I like mplayer. It's on your linux cd's so just urpmi mplayer. Other people like Xine but I've never used it.
  6. Mandrake normally uses RPMs but also uses tar.gz files. You can get a lot of software from your installation cds. Go through Mandrake Control Center, Software Manager. You can also download programs from our download sites and other sites on the net. To install an rpm other than through MCC, open a terminal, cd (change directory) to the directory where the software is located, su root, password and type urpmi <softwarepackage name>. Urpmi will check for dependecies and prompt you for cds if necessary. If you want to install a tar.gz do a search of the forum. There are numerous posts on the subject. Anti-virus for Linux? There's some out there I suppose but I don't know of anyone who uses it.
  7. Go into your Mandrake Control Center, Boot, DrakBoot, modify Lilo/Grub, configure, okay, DrakBoot again, Windows modify, check default. Save and that should do it. It that's what you tried and for some reason it didn't work paste the contents of /etc/lilo.conf. And welcome to the board! :)
  8. I do the same thing in the Opera Linux forum. :P
  9. Hope this helps http://www.mandrakeusers.org/index.php?showtopic=1291
  10. Well I happen to talk to Chris all the time and I know he is definitely not anti-mandrake but is instead a big fan of it. As he said he was simply issueing a warning. Please don't be so quick to jump to conclusions people. Thanks!

  13. have you tried from cl and see if you get any error messages?
  14. Knowing what you're trying to do and why have you ever thought about purchasing win4lin? You can download a trial version before you buy it. Maybe that's an easier answer for you.
  15. Right click, Add special button, K Menu.
  16. Scoopy's skin is now at the IPB site for download. Go scoopy! :D http://skins.ibplanet.com/index.php?act=view&id=534
  17. Scoopy has created a holiday skin for the board. You can access it through My Controls, Skins & Languages. Enjoy!
  18. I fixed it! Finally! I also increased the font size by 2 pts for every font. They were awfully tiny.
  19. Well I checked mine and I have about the same amount. By looking at it, it looks like what my browser is caching. Can't be sure tho.
  20. That's not an official IPB skin and it's one I'm trying to get working properly and it's not co-operating! The text is actually there, you just can't see it and according to css it's supposed to be black. So no, you're eyes aren't fooling you. I'm not giving up though! :) But if you do want to use it the links are there, just put your mouse over them and you can still click on links.
  21. Some of you may have noticed that when you log in the skin you've chosen has now gone back to the default so you have to reselect the skin again. This isn't due to the fact that the skins aren't "holding" it's due to the fact that I'm having to make changes in the server. I hope that is the last of it and you won't have any more problems but if you do please pm me and let me know which skin you are using. Thanks and sorry for the inconvience.
  22. We have what is probably the last theme for a while. I named it after LiquidZoo. ;)
  23. The problems that happened this morning have been corrected. The chat link is back and all should be well. /me tired. -_-
  24. That's been taken care of. Sorry about that.
