  1. Ok, we need to find out how much interest there really is, decide on prices etc. Tyme and I are going to work on this together and get started on setting things up. We need to know what items, t-shirts, coffee cups, hats, etc. It's free for one item but costs to set up more than one. All ideas welcome!
  2. Well I hope you have a safe trip and get back here fast!

Always be sure to run lilo after making changes.
  4. You can do an install with just cd1 but having 2 and 3 would be best.
  5. /me wonders if people realize that I'm a woman? :D
  6. The second iso is 714,646 kbs which is roughly 698 mbs. The third is 711,864 which is roughly 695 mbs. They should burn with no prob. If I did my math correctly that is. ;)
  7. Thank you very much for the offer but we got a new server today. :)
  8. I just checked the mod logs and there's no record of your post being deleted. Maybe it was when the server was acting up?
  9. And I'm the evil admin that woke him up. :(
  10. No need to apologize. Stuff happens. :)
  11. The upgrade had to be done today so it's finished.
  12. See how this whole thread has turned into a beer thread? Must I remind you admins that we're not supposed to go OT? :P :D :D :D
  13. I'm sure you'll make up for the lost beer drinking time! :P

    urpmi

That's because you still have to old version installed. You can do urpme to remove it if you want. Otherwise urpmi with the exact package name and post the output. Are you using Mandrake 9.2 or 9.0?
  16. Didn't know if everyone had seen this or not. Intel, IBM aid Linux defense fund Tech titans back a new fund that will defend Linux users against copyright infringement lawsuits. January 12, 2004: 5:46 PM EST SEATTLE (Reuters) - Two of the largest backers of Linux, the fast-growing operating system popular with businesses, are contributing to a new fund that will defend Linux users against copyright infringement lawsuits threatened by SCO Group Inc. International Business Machines Corp. (IBM: Research, Estimates), which has adopted Linux as a competitive edge that will help it sell more hardware and services, and Intel Corp. (INTC: Research, Estimates), which makes the chips that Linux runs on, are contributing to the fund, although they haven't specified how much. Open Source Development Labs (OSDL), a nonprofit industry consortium based in Beaverton, Oregon, that is working to promote further adoption of Linux, said in a statement that it created the fund, which so far has attracted pledges of $3 million. OSDL said it is aiming for $10 million. Linux, a variant of the widely used Unix operating system which can be copied and modified freely, emerged a decade ago and is being used to run the Internet, handle financial transactions and even manage the U.S. nuclear arsenal. "We want to continue to provide peace of mind to end-users," said Stuart Cohen, chief executive of OSDL said in a statement. "We don't want to see the momentum or deployment of Linux slowed down." Concerns over the legality of Linux were raised last year after SCO, which came to own the rights to Unix, sued IBM for billions of dollars and has threatened companies that they must pay to use Linux or face litigation. IBM, which won't be tapping into the defense fund for its own defense, was accused by SCO of embedding parts of SCO's Unix software code in versions of the free Linux operating system. Other Linux advocates have also taken similar measures to protect themselves and their customers against lawsuits. Hewlett-Packard Co. (HPQ: Research, Estimates) created in September an indemnification program that would help its customers who use the Linux operating system against potential legal troubles. Red Hat Inc. (RHAT: Research, Estimates), which provides software update and support services for Linux, put $1 million into a fund it created to cover the legal expenses of other companies developing Linux.

  21. CD1 worked fine when I redid it and burned it. Booted with no prob. Here's the md5sums for it - 26d1d87e39ca0b58d4437bea53042d07.
  22. The second one is up. I had started uploading last night but something happened during the night and the upload got interrupted. So I uploaded again this morning and it's on the mirror now. I'm doing the third cd at the moment. When I did my SuSE install I only used the 1st and 2nd ones. Haven't needed anything off the others yet but I'll get all 5 on the server in case anyone wants them.
  23. Darnn it! Well I'll remake them and upload again! I'm going to delete the ones on the server now so any up there will be new. Who told you to tell me how to do this bvc?
