yeah the built in firewall is good but remember to do the updates and stuff..

well i got postfix going.. but i want to be able to send and recieve mail from the computers but use the server.. if you know what i mean.. : O) and i had a friend that runs a isp help me setup my postfix.

i have a good GF already i was just buggin because he was : O )

Does any one know or can sujest me a good book. Id like one to talk about linux or mandrake. for installing setting thingsup useing the command line setting up mysql apache and lots more.. Any one bought a book that they like alot that they can recommend me ?

install this and use it.. I like it alot better than Smoothwall.. Mandrake MNF It is good to use and i use it and love it alot.. ive tried smoothwall and mandrake mnf is better and has alot more features.

Can any one help me setup webmail configureations so i can look at my email from a webpage off my server.. the server sends and recieves mail perfectly but i want to have a webmail type of webpage .. is this possible too.? Please help

maybe try ssh -l *USERNAME* 1.1.1.1 ( ip ) example mine is ssh -l jason 1.1.1.1 And it all work's..

well it is so easy. install 2 nic card's enable internet connection sharing. and then wola.. don't forget to turn on the firewall though.. But seriously If it were me. i would use mandrake mnf/snf Mandrake firewall then build a server .. dont let the server be the firewall also.... just a word of advice.. Jason..

i'm also stumped on this one.. i cant search for the shared folders on my mandrake box.. i am leading to believe that it has something to do with user's and pass word's im thinking about changing my user password to match my server one then see if it work's.. Humm.. You would think that unix / linux would like to talk to each other nicely but NAHH they don't. : O (

i like to do this also. but have asked it alot and yet to get any answers to my questions about mail server.. maybe ill lerk around this post and see if i can get any hint's.

omg.. all you linux gurus go straight for the heard ehh : O) Any way go into system preferences and go to sharing and turn on windows file sharing. then on the mandrake box or ect ect use linhood ( networking browser. ) and look for your network. when you see your computer click on it and brows with user put in your user name and pass then press enter then mount it : O) simple..

yes i have had that problem also so i went into the bios of the firewall and changed it in there to match mine : O) simple fix.. Is the firewall working now. : O ) ...?

im thinking about soon. buying a dell ls laptop a pIII 500 with 512mb ram and a nice 20gig hdd.. ill get a used one off ebay or something and run mandrake on it.. i have a laptop now but it is a mac 17" powerbook..if i dont buy a dell laptop illbuild a new desktop :o) Gota love getting computer stuff at cost from work... :o )

Ok i searched seriously.... How can i open files or edit them with terminal. im trying my hardest to learn and do every thing with ssh terminaling into my server but i cant find the text or file editor program for mandrake 9.2 terminal. in bsd or other unix it is edit or picco but what is it with mandrake.. I hate walking up to the server loging on as root and opening files up with text editors and stuff..

what version of mandrake are you running.. why not just use the webadmin page and set it up that way in the mysql database and users list..?

norton and antivirus for linux.. or zonealarm WHAT...!! why do you need thiss.. it is not microsoft.. with any microsoft os you have to have some kinda antivirus.. EKK.. Run unix linus.. NO MORE MICRO CRAP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
