  1. I fixed the problem guys. It seems it's not that bad. No bad packages installed at all. What I did was: rpm --initdb (begins new database) rpm --rebuilddb (rebuilds the database - takes a long time and you see no activity) All is fixed :) Man pages rule!
  2. Check out this handy little utility I found. http://yanc.sourceforge.net/index-en.html Lets you set up all little details (almost) like the detonator does in Windows.
  3. Find out icons for evolution in http://www.kde-look.org/ I use the evolution-crystal one :)
  4. And now add me to the list of people with no problems. I don't know what the #%$& is wrong here! I rebooted twice, nothing worked. All clean reboots (with 60 secs interval to ensure RAM clears out of static). Then, I decided I will put urpmi to the work again. It again said it could add anything to the rpm database. Funny... I rerun urpmi for the same exact thing... Everything installed it says. I type rpm --initdb... No errors... I run rpm -qa... No errors... I am not sure what is wrong. And I hope it got fixed now
  5. You got the version right. All the problems started when I restarted my computer. So you might want to uninstall it before restarting. It all depends on you
  6. Yes, did the upgrade too! What do I get? After 2 hours of playing around to fix it, I managed to get urpmi to work again. But no... It won't install anything because of corrupted rpm database. It refuses to install anything because it can't add it on the database. So how about rebuilding the database? Nope... It seems it doesn't like that either. How about doing it manually? I tried to follow the link the others gave. But that is too complex for me. Any more clear ideas?
  7. sendmail is quite easy to use though. And douzens of scripts, web site manager and content management systems prefer it than anything else. Postfix is really hard to work with these scripts and/or programs. Consider that too.
  8. Just in case... In phoenix, you can type words while you look at the page... Phoenix will find them on page. If they are links, hit enter to follow it. It works marvels! No mouse! And you can view your favourite sites easily!

  10. One nice idea... Why don't you use the color package in latex to do so? /usepackage{color} /pagecolor{black} % Kind of obvious, isn't it? /color{white} % Text color I assume LaTeX2HTML will know what to do from there. I think LaTeX2HTML supports the color package since 1999. I am not sure where I read this, so don't take my word for it. Then again... The manual should be at your /usr/local/tex/latex2html/current/docs/manual.ps so have a look at it if you wish. Also, this document might come in handy. Try the section on including arbitrary HTML in your documents.
  11. Anyone tried ACM flight simulator before? Any good? http://websimulations.com/

    ICQ and Gaim

Guys... LICQ... Supported server side lists for the past 6 months... They have SMS support too. As well as a ton of other features. Try it
  13. 7CDs and they give you 10 demos from software already available to download... Give me a reason to buy it. I am willing to spend $100 for it, but what's the reason?
  14. I use LaTeX mostly, in conjunction with Open Office. I use OO so I can see what I write/do right away, then I compile it in LaTeX to get in the format I want. Why LaTeX? Is this a question I should answer? Just chek out the quality, and then lets see if you have the question again :)
  15. So I put in the CD with my mp3s... I click on removable media... Open up the CD... See the songs I want, selected them. and drop them onto the hard disk Starts copying... And suddenly, file does not exist. Skip? What the #$%^? I put the CD in my mp3 player... The file plays just fine, no problems at all, no questions asked. I put it back in PC and try again. Same problem. I go to work, and test it there under Windows. All works fine. Back to my PC. MDK still doesn't like my mp3s What to do?
  16. I think the server is down. Can't see at all here
  17. Okay, I did try to search for UPS on the webpage I gave you. It seems gkups is not developed anymore. But... http://www.starforge.co.uk/gkrellm/ is another UPS monitor that is being actively developed. Wants a Belkin UPS I think... Maybe you can twick it. How about gknut? http://sourceforge.net/projects/gknut/ I know this still isn't gkups that you were asking for but... Check the GKrellm plugins page. You will find cool stuff. XaWTV control throught gkrellm, as well as xmms and volume etc. It's fun!
  18. You might want to install a new version of gkrellm. Either compile from source (with the latest from their website) or from texstar's rpms. UPS monitor is included by default in 2.x versions (at least on mine is). On the other hand... Texstar has an rpm with a douzen or so gkrellm plugins for 2.x versions. You might wanna go for it. Gkrellm Plugins page: http://web.wt.net/~billw/gkrellm/Plugins.html
  19. Fonts fonts fonts. I had the same problem once. All I did was install all the fonts for MDK again. Any package that had anything to do with fonts. Including locales. And it worked for me.

    Fortune in KDM

Great idea! But I am using GDM... I think GDM is highly configurable and can do it... Not sure about KDM...
  21. Think more of Command and Conquer... Red Alert... Check it out http://boson.eu.org/ I think
  22. A great 3D billiard game. Check it out! http://foobillard.sunsite.dk/
  23. I know of Boson 0.6.1 I want 0.7 which is the newest version. Requiring the new version of WML released on the 11th... And it doesn't compile.
  24. Didn't try it yet... I've got finals now... In a week or so :) Sorry :)
