  1. yeah. you have to mount all of your partitions under /mnt, then you can work on them like normal.
  2. i think the easiest thing to do would be to convert the mp3 to .wav and then use a wav editor to split it up.
  3. I DID try that. and the install worked great, but when the program runs, i can't see ant text in the search window. I'm curious what version of wine you are using, since on the wine site it is listed as not working either. it seems you know something noone else does.....
  4. I used giFT in the past, but recently had a really bad experience with the main developer on IRC. He was exceptionally rude, and basically was an a$$hole to me. so no more giFT for me. not gonna support it. Lopster is awesome btw, i think this is the app I've been looking for. It connects to the WINMX netwroks apparently, haven't gotten it to do it, but WINMX was the only windows app I have ever missed. If I can get this thing connecting to that, I'll be beyond happy! 8)
  5. when I used to live in New York I could pick up Linux Format. That's my pick out of the bunch.
  6. Glitz: do you happen to have the name of that software or any links to the story?
  7. what kind of mouse is it?
  8. kick ass...it works now. just had to find a decent server. now if i can just get it to connect to the winmx network I will be in heaven
  9. it looks good, but I can't get it to connect to anything!
  10. anyone have any good recomendations for some good file sharing apps? I've been using gtk-gnutella, but can never download anything.
  11. checking for C compiler default output... configure: error: C compiler cannot create executables check `config.log' for details. anyone know what the hell that is?
  12. I think the easiest thing to do would have been to install windows first. when you install windows now, its gonna write over the Master Boot Record. you could always install windows and let it write over your master boot record, then use your linux boot floppy to boot, and once in linux run as root: lilo -v which would restore lilo as your boot manager.
  13. do you have imwheel installed? its an rpm package so you should be able to go into rpmdrake and see if it is installed. I know for sure you will need that package.
  14. man be sure to grab this too!!! http://www.kde-look.org/content/show.php?content=2242

    KDE 3.1

anyone know how to make KDE 3.1 co-exist with KDE 3.0.3? I haven't tried it yet, since MDK9.0 has been so worry free for me. But...if it aint broke...fix something ....
  16. is there an installer for wolf? and i can then use the windows cd?
  17. i am completely and utterly addicted to multiplayer Quake3. And yes I run it from linux. the other games, I'm not sure about. I never really was a gamer. once you have the point release, lemme know, I'll give you the links for some of the current map packs people are using.
  18. he said he had redhat 7.2... My suggestion would be to get your hands on mandrake 9.0...it'll be a lot easier to work with. especially here. we are all mandrake users and if you have problems with mandrake, it will be much easier to get help.
  19. if you already have the cd for quake3, just download the linux point release installer and copy the .pk3 files from the windows cd, and you can play quake3 in linux natively.
  20. I wouldn't just throw 9.0 away so soon. why don't you tell us a little about the network you have and post your smb.conf here?
  21. I think its a good bet that shorewall could be blocking that. I couldn't even connect to the internet on my first boot into MDK9. I had to disable the firewall to do that. Try disabling it and see what happens.

XMMS should read that by default too. I've never had that problem before.
