  1. It's not that I don't like RH it jsut doesn't like me..:)
  2. Yeah I am looking into that..I could see it losing the password after said amount of time. Although in KDE even if you select remember password it doesn't... Would be nice when I am doing things if I could say open MCC type in root password then go open other things and not have to type in the password. I could go for a duration period style but not remembering at all is rather anoying...In Gnome it uses pam for that which is cool but something simlare in KDE would be nice..
  3. yep already looked thru that and did all that..:) The thing is I use KDE on my desktop at home.. I'd actually not mind it saving the password in KDE just like it does in gnome..:) I am not actually wanting to get rid of that feature..lol I just get tired of constantly typing in the admin password everytime I want to do something that requires roots rights..
  4. When I use Gnome and I open MCC I type my password once...I close it and can reopen it without retyping my password... Now in KDE I have to always type in my password even if I tell it to remember it.. Can anyone tell my why this is?
  5. yep texstar posted a fix for that on his forums...basically KDE 3.1.2 kills that and you have to manually add them...I asked this very same question not to long ago..:) http://www.pclinuxonline.com/modules.php?m...ic=1542&forum=7 that link is texstars fix for that issue..
  6. oh yeah it's in the summary area near the end where you can also the boot loader...doh I think I was thinking about another distro..:)
  7. I think twards the end of the installed you have an option if I remember correctly by clicking a button called advanced. That will allow you to create a boot floppy. I could be wrong it's been awhile since I installed MDK.

    PHPBB2

in the main folder that you installed phpbb software there will be an install and contrib folder. Those folders need to be deleted in order to load phpbb... These folders are specific to PHPBB2 and not folders that are installed within Linux itself.

    K3B issue...

I get this message when I try to run k3b.. I have managed to get it working to this point and I get this message at startup... Any help on how to resolve this would be greatly appreciated..
  11. nice post..very helpfull
  12. Yeah I started poking thru google....I figured I'd psot here incase someone had some that i didn't inf..:) I always just considered KDE and Flux to be the same..lol
  13. DOh when I was refering to mdk club wasn't meant about the downloads...I meant the support forums.. Sorry I didn't make that post clear enough my fault..:( Anyways the software on mdk club is outstanding...but I just joined so I haven't had to to really sift thru it all..:) I think it's worth it just to support the company..
  14. yep you can get quite abit of software but I honestly was expecting a far superior program then what ya get...Most everything I have installed wasn't from mdk club but then again I just joined ....Next release of mdk I may buy a power pack but for now I will stick to the club..:)
  15. Ah good point never thought of it like that..
  16. Up until lately I never knew there was a difference.... After doing some reading here on the boards I am finding out that Gnome and KDE are just DE's and things like Flux and such are only window managers and can be run in gnome and such.. Is there any links or sites that really explains this indepth? Also is what WM does KDE use ? Basically any links anyone can provide where I can really research this for learning purposes would be great. I seem to learn something new about linux every day that just intregues mean more and more..
  17. Another option is the mandrake club.. MDK get's more money from that..:)
  18. One thing I might suggest on a web browser..Use Mozilla Firebird. Supports everything mozilla does but much lighter and faser performance..Atleast on all the machines I have installed linux on.. I like hte concept yall have keep it simple and light. I'd love to see a distro that doesn't focus on either Gnome or KDE.. Fluxbox I have never used but here lots of peope talk about it... Anyways I am defiantely keepin an eye on this thread as I wouldn't mind testing out a distro such as what you guys seem to want to put together..
  19. Time to learn to compile a kernel...lol for me anyways..:)
  20. nah that method doesn't work for the cdrom and floppy icons..:) Someone posted a link earlier to texstars forums. It apears to be something in texstars rpm's that break that. Not a major ordeal I just made myself a simple script for that in my home dir..:) Didn't really want them on the desktop jsut an easy way so my wife can get to them..:)
  21. Eh I don't need found an alternative work around...:) I guess you can say I just got lazy but in reality your right don't need em..:)
  22. Thanks for the link Smoke...they helped alot I think I am finally getting the hang of urpmi at the command line... Heck I am starting to really dig mdk alot..Only issue and seems I am not the only one is once texstars kde 3.1.2 rpms are install the cdrom and cloppy icons no longer show up but that's an easy fix..:)
  23. Looking to expand my fond selection.. Also anyone have a link that shows you how to migrate windows fonts into linux....I remember seeing something about doing that...
  24. Thanks Dragon I'll try that solution... I guess I should have looked thru texstars site first.. I just never thought they had forums..Anyways thanks for all the help everyone I can always get to the cdrom the old fashion way by typing in the path.. I guess I got lazy having those icons..lol
