It's a Jenoptik JD 2100 z3s (aka 'Traveler', aka 'Skanhex'), a very cheap camera for great pictures :lol: Traveler provides on their website a 'linux step by step' to setup an older model, but only to use gphoto2, I don't know if this is the same for usb mass storage. I'll try the supermount thing the next days. Does supermount + digicam work for you?

I had created a /mnt/camera and tried it with mount /dev/sda1 /mnt/camera and mount /dev/sda /mnt/camera The problem is that I get the error: sda1 (or sda) no such block device (that's the translation ;-). And indeed in /dev there is no sd* or sda* (whatever) I tried to plug in the camera before booting, and hotplugging. tyme: there is a /dev/scd0, that's my cd burner, no scd1. And a /dev/scsi/host0/bus0/target0/lun0/cd, also the cdrom

Feeling very stupid to ask this question. Yesterday we bought a digital camera, and now I can't figure out how I can access the files (.jpg) on the CF-card. (I am able using win xp, just connecting via usb cable). I connect the usb cable. What do I have to do next? When I do a tail -f /var/logmessages it says, a new USB device blabla is found, and scsi1: scsi emulation for USB Mass storage Doing lsusb: .... Bus 002 Device 002:ID 0d96:2105 Traveler (thats the correct camera) lsusb -v: a lot of information about the camera: vendor, product ID ,etc I can see the 'camera' in MCC, but as unknown, the same in KDE - information about usb devices. How and where do I mount the camera?

You might want to try: - boot xp in safe mode - and defrag - disable processes running in the background - identify the large ('blue') file/files, copy it/them to a different location Don't know if this helps, just an idea.

Same here. Texstar's Realplayer rpm is working fine here with Konqueror, Mozilla, Opera 7.11 (on ML 9.1)

I saw this at work: when the sender with MS Exchange/Outlook sends multiple attachments in RTF format and with some odd settings, then the receiver (ms boxes) is getting this obscure and unreadable winmail.dat. The solution was: tell the *sender* to attach poperly. Does this happen when you use kmail to send attachments to yourself?

I did it on a computer from a friend, but first asking on a forum: does it work (got the answer that 'yes'), so i tried. - 1 hd, 2 (!) ntfs partitions, one system, one for data. I think (not sure) that the 2. partitions was resized. And yes, nothing destroyed, all stuff there ... Do you think that this is related to two partitions?

@Motts: oops ... gee ... that must have been my lucky day when I installed MDK 9.1 on a pc with only ntfs partitions ... thanks for the warning!

- With the trial version of PM you can't apply the changes - i believe that you don't need PM The defrag of your NTFS partition might be a problem because of two very big system files ( one is a sort of swap, the other a file to store information for the 'sleep-mode'), win can't 'move' them. And if they are at the end of the partition, MDK can't 'cut' some gig of there. It is secure to disable these two things, later you can re-enable it. What I did: disable - restart your computer - do a scandisk - run defrag (look at the details, there you can see where your files are), you might have to do the defrag thing more than one time. Now MDK should be able to resize the ntfs partition. Maybe someone can help me here with the description, how to disable these function - i have a German XP...

hmm, funny, i had this problem with the 7.11 B2 version. I first had to set the minimum font size in Opera to 12 or 14, file --> preferences --> fonts and colours. After that to copy some ms fonts (arial, verdana, geogia) to my mandrake fonts directory, initialising these fonts in kde control center. And now it looks fanatastic. Didn't tried the final yet, sorry that I can't help more ...

i just browsed the terratec site - found something about linux drivers - esp. an rpm for suse, and about alsa and so, but the search-funtion on the site is very bad, don't get for which card. maybe if Deke can post the model, i'll be able to find the information, then i can translate, german is my native language. --anna

Hi, just wanted to let you know that I finally have a fast running kde :D After trying reconfig network, sound and some more - I gave up. Installed RedHat 9 - fast, wow. Deleted RH 9 and the old MDK 9.1 - and did a clean reinstall of Mandrake. This time let M. choose: the filesystem, the bootloader, the packages, the services, the partitions ... Now KDE starts fast, kde apps ~ 1-2 sec. Thanks a lot for the helping hands here on the board ... --anna

aRtee, :o you are of course right, 'sfer' was a typo, it's sfeer, hehe. getting confused with the two os, three languages ... And merci for the tip /home (i know, i know, puh), and the master/slave config thing, that did the manufacturer. I opened the pc one time, to install a very complicated package to make from a noisy pc a silent silent one, no i'am not in the mood to re-open this thing ... on-the-fly copies: i'am a bit 'conservative', like to first write an image (or whatever it is), and then to burn this nasty little file is called '.xsession-errors' (was a typo too) and residates in my /home/anna if you don't have it, you miss something, for sure. --anna

thanks, bvc :) if this is kde nature I'll let nature go her/its way ... And yes, the changes after k3d setup didn't affect the startup time. I don't find the launch times really annoying, i'll stay using kde. Thinking about examening the next weeks my system, got the impression there is something in the background with the soundcard/alsa, maybe with the fonts, don't know yet. Anyway, this is a way to get to know all these fine files as /var/log/messages ... Thanks everybody for helping !!!
