  1. If it's any good to you I ran Postfix for a while. There was a nice application that went with it and that was called Postfix Admin. Really easy to set up and maintain.
  2. I used that mirror as well, maybe it was the popularity and the best for speed that has been it's demise?
  3. I do believe some of the mirrors are having problems. I re-installed all my sources because I was getting a similar result as you are. What is happening I have no idea. Anyway all I had to do was go to easyupmi (link at the top of the page) and use a different mirror to the one I already had, which was a UK one and all was well again. Hope that helps. Don't forget to remove the old sources first.
  4. I've found a way round the other problem with metisse. Don't use it. :P
  5. It's not been fixed, do you think it's worth putting in another bug report? I'm sure there must be quite a few with the problem.
  6. I've found a couple of things that I can't find a work around for in 2007.1, the first of which is when I select an application to install in MCC and the application has dependencies the dialog box comes up to tell me so, but, it is empty. Only when I proceed to apply do I get a list of dependencies. I can put up with this but it only came up with a clean install of 2007.1. The other is when I use the metisse desktop I am unable to get kdetv to fire up, it complains about being unable to grab the video and that I should adjust the settings for the v4l2 plugin. I've tried all there is, to no avail. Also when I come to log out of metisse I only have the option of ending the session, no restart nor shut down option. Other than these the distribution is a credit to the team. Any ideas anybody?
  7. What are these patents that open source has supposedly borrowed? Should we all be worried about it? Should we be doing something to cover our posterior? personally I'm not worried but I do think it's getting close to the time when the community should be bolstering the defenses and keeping an eye for the enemy coming over the hill. What to do about it ??? Form a square folks we are under attack.
  8. This is a problem/bug that never got resolved in 2007.0. I myself had this very same problem unitl I moved a usb device connection to a creative webcam from the onboard usb ports to a four port expander. purely by chance I must admit, and never had the problem again. To check the possibility of a usb problem/conflict remove any usb devices one by one and see if the problem gets resolved. If you have a device that uses the OV511 driver, start with that one. There are many posts on this forum about your problem.
  9. I understand now, sorry but I'm getting on a bit and somewhat slow. Will now post the contents of /etc/ndiswrapper Just the filenames.
  10. Sorry I thought bcm43xx was your native driver. Is it your native driver you want to get rid of or your windows driver? What is the name of windows driver and what is your native driver called please? Which one are you wanting to use.
  11. Have you tried ndiswrapper -e bcm43xx That should remove your native driver from the ndiswrapper list of installed drivers as I understand things. I played around with ndiswrapper quite a lot when I first started with linux and debian quite some time ago and had to do everything by command line.
  12. Welcome to MUB, which window manager did you select to use on installation i.e. kde, gnome or something else?
  13. On my KDE star menu I have a search facility very similar to windows, but much better.
  14. Maybe a poor choice of words, opening my mouth before putting my brain in gear. I also was looking at LE2005 release, one that I haven't upgraded yet. The alias is needed in that release as I have just tried without and I was unable to connect. I didn't dig any deeper because of time restraint. I must try and choose my words very carefully with you guys, sorry.
  15. Research, research again and research some more. There are more opportunities now than when I was looking for work. I don't have a degree of any description because those avenues where not an option in 1959 when I finished my schooling. I wasn't good enough for Grammar school and technical colleges (which are now called universities) where just about to make an appearance. Yet from 1970 something I learned programming for the shear hell of it. In that time I have learned 6502, 68000 assembly languages. I took a course in Cobol, now that is programming. Basics 'till they were coming out of my ears. C\C++, bash, perl and any number of scripting languages. Never professionally I might add All because I wanted to and enjoyed most of it. There maybe a glut of programmers about so companies have great choice and can pay peanuts, but they still need someone who understands programming and one day the good programmers will be in demand. Until then I say to you guys look around, there is certainly more avenues open in the IT world now than ever, a few that have been mentioned. Open your eyes, your mind and look around, decide, and put your heart and soul into it. I now get down off the soapbox. :P
  16. Just a thought but have you checked /etc/modprobe.conf for the line alias wlan0 ndiswrapper this will tell wlan0 which driver to use. If there isn't one then add it.
  17. OK now I'm getting a better picture. Remove the rpm and re-install using Arctics method. You seem to get the same result as I do. A white screen. This is why I have to launch the stand alone player. You should have video and sound with that method. I have found out that RealPlayer uses scripts and possibly the BBC embedded player does not support them, this will be why we have to use the stand alone player. Why you do not have video is a different story. What happens when you use the beeline.tv website?
  18. I've just been playing around with this and in about:config with or without the full path it works the same perhaps because of the script in /usr/bin however it never hurts to use the full path. Jim if you have everything as it should be I do not know why it is not working for you. I'm now lost.
  19. Have you made the corrections outlined in my previous post? And checked the entries for Opera?. Greg2's instructions were not quite correct.
  20. Sorry my mistake, a slight correction to Greg2's instructions as follows :- In about:config the value entered for network.protocol-handler.app.rtsp it should read realplay You can correct this by right clicking on the entry and select Modify and overwrite with realplay. That will correct that for you. As for Opera you may have made a mistake somewhere along the line. Just check that all the entries are correct. As per image.
  21. Is it possible you had problems connecting to the servers and cleared the problem by re-booting?
  22. The answer to that one is here https://mandrivausers.org/index.php?s=&...st&p=304060, courtesy of Greg2 The answer to that is even easier in Opera:- Select from the tools menu, preferences -> advanced -> programs. Add, enter the protocol rtsp and the program to associate realplay I agree with that but then again I think the BBC site must hold some responsibility for that.
  23. Sorry Neddie but mine changed without doing anything, synced with London.
