    Need help

I recommend you to install a ethernet board in your computer. Ethernet connexions are better than USB. Otherwise go to the MCC (Mandrake Control Center) and look into Network and Internet section if everything is alright. Bye
  14. I have an old Compaq Presario 9520. I am traying to install mandrakelinux 10.1 on it. The boot disket with the kernel 2.6 can not be used for the installation. I had to create a boot disket with the kernet 2.4 to be able to install it. Now my problem is that the capacity of my hard disk is too small (4.9 Gb) to install the minimun I would like to have. I am therefore going to change the hard disk. Could someone tell me which was the latest mandrakelinux version using the kernel 2.4 ? Thanks in advance.

  23. To verify the compatibility of your hardware I recommend you to look at this link : http://www1.mandrivalinux.com/en/hardware.php3 I recommend you to buy the PowerPack+ (version 10.1 Expert) if you want to save time installing Mandrakelinux. It's well documented and you have 1 DVD and CD's for the installation. To install it with all options (servers...) you require 3 Gb and 64 Mb of RAM. Bye
