  1. I voted good, all things on my laptop works accept for my pcmcia w-lan card. It works with all other versions of Mandy with ndiswrapper but not with 2007.
  2. I do all the root things with a graphical interface and never log in as root with a graphical interface, i use the nice little programm called "DoAsRoot". For example: I open konqueror go to /etc/modprobe.preload right-click on it and choose action/edit as root. I change it, save it and close it and the changes are made as root. And after closing the editor i'm root off and again a normale user.
  3. When you boot with Linux you see a screen where you can login with your name and password. There can you choose also for KDE, Gnome or Icewm, if installed. Before defrag, deactived the swapfile in windows and reboot. The swapfile is often at the end of the HD and not removable.
  4. Be sure to run defrag from windows before you begin to install Mandriva
  5. 1: Yes you need an new parition, Mandriva creats there "/, swap, home" 2. 20 gygabite is more then enough 3. Install both and find out which one you like You can also take a look here on the wiki
  6. I've screwed up the itunes DB off my daughters ipod nano with Amarok 1.3.8 with 1.4 it's seems to works fine. With GTKpod it works fine.

    iPod Problems

The message "Do not disconnect" you it see also with windows, i see it now while my daughter is charging her ipod Nano. GtkPod is indeed the better choice for the ipod it also syncs your music database, which Amarok does'nt.

    Amsn

Hy there, noto so new Type in a console, (the little black tv) amsn and post the message here. If there are any errors you will see them.
  10. I've updated also Xorg without any problems on my IBM R31
  11. The story goes on If i start digikam from console and try to download the photo's i got the following error [willie@localhost ~]$ digikam QMultiInputContext::changeInputMethod(): index=0, slave=xim gp_port_write: Broken pipe gp_port_write: Broken pipe What does this mean
  12. Please explain how you did't, so it helps other with the same problems
  13. At my work i have tried 6.06 on a Fujitsu-Siemens Amilo and it looks nice, my graphicscard is regonized (ATI), PCMCIA, W-lancard, sound it's all been regonized. The W-lan isn't work because of the damn button that's activated it (same on Mandriva 2006). The HP PSC 1410 is been seen but don't work with the live CD. But i still prefer Mandy
  14. Graphics editing: for vector: Inscape, OpenOffice draw For bitmaps: The Gimp, Krita
  15. And lets my cursor moves like crasy, when i touch my thinkpad button B) It open windows random
  16. That doesn't work for me
  17. Cheers, i forgot i also installed kdegraphics for the kioslave "camera"
  18. It works, not in Digikam i still can't download the pictures from the camera. But in Konqi it works. I open Konqueror and type "camera:/" and can download the pictures. I've installed: libptp2, gphoto2 and libgphoto2.
  19. Again i search the internet, and i found the answer It would seem that the camera pops up with a different address under /proc/bus/usb each time; gtkam is able to handle that change, but digikam is not. an now the solution
  20. I've tried that to make a mountpoint but i see no drive (it's a PTP camera). He can't work as mass storage only as PTP. As far as i can tell he needs a module which he can't find (uhci_hcd i believe) I think the only thing to do is put the SD card in a card reader.
  21. That's a problem he doesn't creates a /dev/sda1 or something else. If i look in MCC i see that the camera has no module and it must be uhci_hcd, i believe.
  22. Uhci_hcd is loaded, i've added a line to fstab "none /proc/bus/usb usbdevfs defaults, auto 0 0" The camera is regonized by DigiKam as "USB PTP Class camera" but i can't download the photo's neither delete them, i don't see a preview either.
  23. install usb-interface /sbin/modprobe uhci-hcd; /bin/true isn't it enough to put usb-uhci in modprobe.preload
  24. usb 2-1: new full speed USB device using uhci_hcd and address 14 If i do: $ /sbin/lsmod i don't see a module uhci_hcd. So the module isn't loaded into the kernel. But if i do # modprobe usb-uhci and then $ /sbin/lsmod i see a module uhci_hcd. Could this be the answer, i can't verify it because i'm at work. On my laptop at work is running Mandriva but i've forgot my camera
