Shielder
Which version of Mandrake will run on an old AMDK6 233MHz box with 64Mb Ram, ATi Rage Pro Turbo (PCI) and a 4.3 GB hard disk drive? I used to have MDK7.0 but I lost the disks when I moved house. TIA. Andy
Ixthusdan
I would load 8.2 on it, but if you bump the ram, just put 9.2 on it!
roland
yep, 8.2 was good. I don't know if you can still download them. If not, I still have the CD's and can send them to you or put them on a Limewire p2p share (I now have a 1000+ kbps connection at home B) ). Just PM me. roland
scoopy
Yep, 8.2 is still out there. Not too many sites still have it tho. Here's one of the official mirrors that still has it: ftp://mandrake.redbox.cz/Mandrake-old/iso
DragonMage
I think 9.2 should be fine as long as you refrain from using heavy duty DE like KDE or Gnome and stick to lighter ones like icewm and XFCE. Although bumping the RAM a bit wouldn't hurt.
Shielder
Thanks for all the replies and offers of CD's. I was thinking of putting 8.0 on it, but if 8.2 works then I might as well put that on (from what I've read it is much better than 8.0 or 8.1). I can still download it ok. I'm going to be using it to teach lads in the Boys' Brigade Company I help run about Linux. They all seem to be M$ fans at the mo, so I need to "spread the word".
