I got it installed fine and it detected all my hardware. 3 problems, when I boot up it uses grub (and i like it) but is there a way I can also boot up windows, like I select linux. Second problem, it doesnt detect nor can I select my network card (its built in on to my mother board and it detects it but the network part it doesn't I have a nforce 2) Third problem is there a way i can share my computer threw a network useing linux and while other cpus are running windows and get internet network connection shareing because my main CPU has no internet. I'm at work with no linux in the house, but I'm sure someone here will nail it down for you or you can look around the menu for tools/boot or soemthing. Anyways there youll the boot options with redhat linux (default) and dos (windows). You can edit dos to become your default (if you want) and you can change the name to WindowsXP or what ever you want. (That kinda sounds like a pickup line :P) I don't know about the nForce-stuff, but my eth-device is also built into the motherboard, and it works great... But then again, I'm running a Intel system.. :P jk. If you're using a router with a DHCP server, you should have some DHCP client software on your computer. If you're using a router without DHCP, hub or switch, you could: a) Set up a DHCP server on one of the computers B) assign IP adresses manualy If you want to share internet access with your LAN, the computer with the internet connection should be set up with some routing software. My lan is like this, i have a router for 2 computers and then i have a ethernet cable running downstairs too mine which is going into another router which connects to 2 other computers (not sure if this is what you ment) and the ip address's should be fine it just doesnt detect my ethernet whic is reall pissing me off. Qchem Posted October 8, 2003 Report Share Posted October 8, 2003 You can edit /boot/grub/menu.lst to change the dos tag on your bootloader to windows - it's merely a cosmetic change however. Like DragonMage said, you need to download the rpm's from nvidias website to get your nforce2 nic going.
