Guest JaseP
Like I have said before, The Linux kernel has nothing to worry about. IBM may have included some proprietary stuff in their particular recepie of Linux, but the Kernel is OK. SCO is just trying this lawsuit FUD to raise some $$$. zero0w
Well, it looks like SCO is going to get sued by Linuxtag - a German Linux lobbying group, for spreading baseless rumor against Linux (SCO still has not provided any clear, identifiable evidence/infringing code inside Linux kernel to public yet). tyme
"We have this special situation here in Germany with a high affinity for Linux, and a very well-organized Linux community, but I can't go on my own with presenting the proof." I heard: "oh f*ck...houston, we have a problem" It'll be interesting how this plays out within the next 2 days.
zero0w
Hey folks, Novell is now in the game too, but he's our friend, not the enemy for so far as he claimed: Novell Claims Ownership of UNIX System V http://slashdot.org/article.pl?sid=03/05/28/1252229
tyme
*whistling sound of bomb falling* BOOOM! :mystilol: this looks good (for Linux), atleast from what it states. The door isn't completely shut for SCO (end of the article), but it's certainly very close.
zero0w
Here is the Novell CEO's letter to SCO, asking for clarification on ownership/issues of UNIX IP rights: http://www.theinquirer.net/?article=9724
tyme
and we have SCO's response: http://biz.yahoo.com/prnews/030528/law059_1.html I think it speaks for itself.
zero0w
Yeah, it means they can't attack Linux kernel anymore. Anyhow, SCO case against IBM is still flaky.
tyme
as long as the kernel is safe, I'll let IBM handle it's problems. They have the money to take care of things, I'm sure. SCO=
aru
 pretty good news! pclinuxonline's boycott SCO:
youngmug
Infoworld has a story on SCO and Novell http://www.infoworld.com/article/03/05/28/...ovellsco_1.html Since Infoworld has such a large (and influential) readership, this should help influence things a little. tyme
If Novell pulls SCO's license...would that effect SCO's case against IBM? I realize it's over IP, but if SCO no longer has a license to distribute or use UNIX, does that negate IP claims?
DragonMage
On a lighter side of things, here is a link of a pictorial point of view of what is happening in this sco-ibm-microsoft-novell saga. http://www.arie.org/doh/ Note: Knowledge of old American TV is recommended :)
zero0w
Sigh, SCO keeps spreading FUD even it doesn't own the patent of UNIX IP: http://www.ofb.biz/modules.php?name=News&f...article&sid=235 http://slashdot.org/article.pl?sid=03/05/2...28/2240224&tid= Now I agree somebody suggested, that SCO should be removed from this planet, for this plain wrong lying and unethical business conduct.
