qeldroma
I am looking for a way to transport the sound to my X-Clients. By now, i found out, that there exists this servers for that: **ARTSD from KDE, but badly documented. You can turn on "network transperency", but that's all, i found out. The rest of the docu specifies the way, to use the tools and modularity of this app for developers. **ASD which supports only OSS **ESD from Enlightenment, but less documented AND not very stable **NAS Network Audio System only oss Some can remember, that i tried to figure this out on MUB, but wasn't really successfull. mikewho
About ARTSD: yeah, there is only said: i should turn network-transparency ON anybody find a way to have a remote sound server working? i've got a hp nx6110 laptop with very poor sound card. i would like to make my own server with sound blaster live in it to make the sound work over the network. an external sound card is the best way, i know, but it would cost some money. i've got few pc-parts bouncing around and a sb live card :) have you succeed with anything? michaelcole
don't know if this will help.. But i got my system to play audio.. First you have to set up the Sound card correctly.. so modify the modprobe.conf and make it for the clients (My server sound card is different to the clients..) modprobe.conf$$CLIENT$$ then go to the /etc/rc.5$$CLIENT$$ and set up the sound and the nas to load (copy from the rc.5 directory) Once that was done i had to modify and make a client file for the nas$$CLIENT$$ in the init.d directory.. Now i have sound but i am losing packets across the network.. This Terminal Server seems easier than the LTSP i used to use..
michaelcole
Found the Packets on the network.. Go to configure sound in kde and lower the sound buffer until the audio is clear.. Now working on the keeping and setting the alsamixer settings on start up for the clients.. Any ideas out there.. Next is recording? I got the recorder started but it did not actually start reading from the device..
