javaguy
It's out, and I love it. I suspect I'll waste as many hours of my life on this as I did on the original ET. The Linux client is not out yet but will be available as a download soon. For now it works just fine under wine. Instructions to make it work. Note: Make sure you're running the correct version of wine! I installed the correct version and followed all the instructions correctly, but when I went to start the game I type typed wine blahblahblah..., and it used the version it found in /usr/bin/somethingsomething, which didn't work. Once I explicitly specified the path to my wine it worked just fine.
zibi1981
I'm also impatiently waiting for Linux installer :) Hope it'll be out soon, and at the moment I make use of my Windows XP ;) on which unfortunately the game crashes in random moments. Today I had 5 crashes in about 2 hours of playing Hope it won't be a problem on Mandriva 2008.0.

Artificial Intelligence
yeah forgot to mention it above. But it is something. Works good, though it need some optimization. I also got report from other linux gamers that ATI x1600 doesn't work (yet) with ETQW.

javaguy
Having now played this game for many hours, I now find it even more absorbing than I did at first. This is one of the best games ever, IMO.

zibi1981
Unfortunately after applying the new patch (ver. 1.4) I'm not able to run the game at all
Artificial Intelligence
more people have reported this. I hadn't the time to test the new patch though.
javaguy
Did you patch it to 1.4 or install the 1.4 client from scratch? When I installed Mandi 2008 I wiped my installation, so last night I downloaded and installed the full 1.4 client. Everything runs smoothly. Even the VOIP works for me now. :)
zibi1981
Did you patch it to 1.4 or install the 1.4 client from scratch? The second option. The only thing I didn't remove before installing 1.4 was ~/.etqwcl/ folder.
