They legally have to release both, or only the dynamic one... I'm sure it's easier for them to compile it once, and release that, instead of compiling it twice. But you can ask them... I'd like a static binary as well... Perhaps for the final version they will release it like that.

DOlson
Anyone else experience a crash of the game in the peninsula prison level??? Apparently lots of people have that crash, and supposedly even in Windows. I don't play the OC until the final client is released. I'm just playing user-made mods trying to find client bugs, so I haven't seen it yet.
Guest JaseP
Cool,... I mean, not cool that it crashes, but cool that it is a platform independant thing, which means that NWN is stable on my system now. I LOOOOVE it. Another reason to boot in Windoze is removed... Now if I only had a native Star Wars Starfighter game (I know, FreeSpace 2 is close, but I'd really love TIE fighters and X-wings)... and a good (and I mean good) native galactic expore and conquer type real or turn-based strategy such as MOO. That and tax software (looking forward to using the latest version of GnuCash in Mandrake 9.1, but bummed there is no native Tax Prep software). Guest JaseP
With my AGP speed set to 1X in the BIOS, the 4XXX drivers work... The 4XXX drivers solve the problem.
Guest JaseP
I spoke too soon... On installation of the 41XX series driver (not the new unified driver but the rpms), I did an init 5 to get to the x-server. That was fine. On shut-down and reboot, the system went unstable again and the kernel driver failed to initialize: XFree86 Version 4.2.0 / X Window System(protocol Version 11, revision 0, vendor release 6600) Release Date: 23 January 2002 If the server is older than 6-12 months, or if your card is newer than the above date, look for a newer version before reporting problems. Guest JaseP
Found the fix,... You have to add nvidia to the modules loaded at startup.
