satelliteuser083
I've just installed 2007 Spring and have the following questions: 1. There's no 'Profiles' entry in the MCC main-menu; could anyone say where it has been put? 2. According to Linux-magazine (which provided the DVD) there are "... improved tools for laptop users, such as better ... suspend-to-disk support" Unfortunately the mag does not contain more information and it isn't very obvious how to access this support. 3. I'd like to be able to disable/enable the network-connection without having to enter the root-password each time; is there any way of setting this feature without first deleting the network-interface and then reinstalling it? Does anyone have any tips? Thanks. Edited May 27, 2007 by satelliteuser083
dexter11
3. That's what net_applet is for. It's an applet on KDE kicker or Gnome panel.
lavaeolus
In the Networking section of MCC (sorry, I am on a german system at the moment, so I do not know the exact names) there is an entry that should be called "activate and manage networking-profiles" or something like this, it is not in the Main-Menu anymore. I think you need not to reinstall your network-connection, just select "configure network" from the net_applet (it should sit in your tray) and tick "allow users to manage network-connection", that should do it. AussieJohn
Normally the applet is installed in the System Tray automatically. It is the one that has a capacitor like icon with a white star on it. Right clicking on it enables you to do what you ask. If it is not already there then open Kde Control Centre ...........KDE Components.............Service Manager................Startup Services and see if it is running. If not then change it and reboot (may not be necessary but I have found it helps). It should then hopefully present the applet in the System tray. Cheers. John.
