Guest xarzu
Where is a good place to go to learn linux from the command-line level? I am looking for ebooks and/or tutorials.
Scythe
Mandriva has some documentation that you can install from the CD. Not sure how much info it gives about the command line, but there you go.

scoonma
When looking up a specific topic, it's often useful to google for "linux HOWTO xyz".
arctic
Here are some useful links: This one is a good first start http://www.linuxcommand.org/learning_the_shell.php This one is less of a tutorial and more "direct access information" http://en.tldp.org/LDP/abs/html/index.html And here is a good book: http://www.chongluo.com/books/rute/ Also: Open the Mandriva Control Center (MCC) and go to the software install section. If you have set up some software mirrors with easyurpmi (link at top of page), then you can download many books like "rute" from there. Just browse the "books" section in the software-installer-section.
mystified
Most commands will work with all distros but some are distros specific. Don't hesitate to ask if you get stumped trying to use a command because of this. I use three distros and sometimes it gets confusing. :)
ianw1974
You can even install the rute manual within Mandriva. Go into System/Configuration/Packaging/Install Software and then search for "rute" (without the quotes). Then you'll have a pdf document on your system, and you can read it offline. arthur
google is always my best learning resource when tinkering with linux. sometimes i even just cut and paste the error message into the google search bar, and i'll find something useful. Google is your friend on a funny note, there's a site called http://www.just****inggoogleit.com which you can send to friends as a joke edit: the **** is the f-word unfortunately not displayable here, hehe Edited April 16, 2007 by arthur
