erniev
I presume that you are trying to use KSCD to play your Music CDs. Open kscd (don't insert a disc just yet) and click on .....Extras.......Configure kscd.......CD Player.......Settings and behaviour. Go down to ......CD-ROM device...and make sure there is a tick in.......Use Direct Digital Playback... Then in ....Select audio backend ....make sure to select......alsa. Then click on ....Apply. Now try your disc and see if this has done the trick. Cheers. John. John, Again thank you for your time I tried that and still have no sound - the KSCD volume is showing a 40% - and for some reason I cannot move the slide bar to increase this volume - I converted one of the tracks to Ogg Vorbis and with Amorak it play but even with my speakers on full volume it is just audible. The info below I tried in response to an earlier suggestion - it appears I do not have also set up....I am right in thinking this ....where do I go from hear... Greg2
run alsaconf as root. make sure that the channels are unmuted. If everything is set, type as root aslactl store this will save the setting. It's alsactl store I was searching for a sound related problem, and found this typo that could cause a newbie problems. Maybe some admin/mod could edit this?
