zibi1981
(...)Section "DRI" Mode 0666 EndSection (...) Hmm, and can You tell (write down ;) ) me what's all about adding these three lines to xorg.conf? What are they responsible for, and where did You find this tip? Of course if that's not a secret :P Thx in advance.
ianw1974
I found it here :P When I had the problem before, either that, or I googled it, but I'm sure I got it here when trying to set up opengl for the first time. Earlier in the file you have: load "dri" which is for direct rendering. This section allows direct rendering for all users with the Mode setting. Nvidia cards don't need this, as they use glx mostly. And hence, without this section they work fine for opengl.
zibi1981
Well, in my desperation I've decided to compile a new kernel (2.6.19.1). There are strong chances it won't even start, :P but I don't have any other ideas. See You soon :D
scarecrow
Well, in my desperation I've decided to compile a new kernel (2.6.19.1). There are strong chances it won't even start, :P but I don't have any other ideas.See You soon :D There are so many things changed in 2.6.19 kernel series, that you have very strong chances succeeding in earning your non-bootable status! zibi1981
Well, I don't know whether this would end in a "non-bootable status", but I got this error message at the end of my compliation: drivers/usb/net/cdc_subset.c:212:2: error: #error You need to configure some hardware for this driver make[3]: *** [drivers/usb/net/cdc_subset.o] Error 1 make[2]: *** [drivers/usb/net] Error 2 make[1]: *** [drivers/usb] Error 2 make: *** [drivers] Error 2 What should I do next? How to erase the files generated by this compilation, and compile a new kernel? EDIT: I finally managed to run my new kernel, but it still requires some work. Anyways, now I'm running my old 2.6.17-5mdv kernel, and I found, that when typing "lsmod" as a root I cannot find "fglrx" module... zibi1981
Hmm, I don't know what's happening to my MD 2007PP, but it seems that 3d have suddenly started to work :o I didn't do anything, I just wanted to check what "glxinfo | grep direct" command does, and it showed as below [zibi1981@localhost Incoming]$ glxinfo | grep direct libGL warning: 3D driver claims to not support visual 0x4b direct rendering: Yes I'm shocked and amazed, and don't know what has happened to my system. BTW, what's "visual 0x4b"??? EDIT I don't believe it!!! I've finally managed to run AIGLX!!! :woot_jump: I don't know how, but it works!!! P.S. How to change between desktops??? zibi1981
Two issues yet waiting to be solved. First one: [root@localhost zibi1981]# glxinfo | grep direct libGL warning: 3D driver claims to not support visual 0x4b direct rendering: Yes And the second one is related with it... Guest perre
Two issues yet waiting to be solved. Hi, I have the exact same problem, but with Radeon 9600 PRO. I have the drivers that came with Mandriva 2007 One. Should you have fglrx installed? I tried to install the latest drivers form ATI, using custom for Mandriva 2007. That didn't work. I'm looking for a simple "walkthrough" on how to install and make the ATI drivers work!!
zibi1981
Well, I finally was able to install ATI Proprietary Driver using customization for Mandriva 2007. Everything went O.K. Could You describe precisely how did You try to install them on Your system? What did You do step-by-step? Maybe with that info I could be helpfull.
