arctic
Hehehe... I have everything prepared in order to hit enter for starting the download in exactly 51 minutes and 35 seconds.
jlc
hehehe If you know how to filter mirrors, you could have grabbed it Friday atleast, cause thats when I did :) Just up front warnings that have already been said, you need to update the kernel for 3d nvidia/ati and use the nvidia/ati rpms from livna 1.) because the vanilla kernel 2.6.15-get4ish broke something nvidia does 2.) modular xorg 3.) its easier :) Have fun and enjoy and start new threads if you have questions. solarian
heh, I knew about the early mirrors, read on OSnews, but was afraid that they'd do some last minute changes (like 15->20) and now I don't have any time for hunting those down. arctic
Same here. I thought they might still change things. Oh, I won't run into the kernel problem as I use SIS graphic chips. :)
arctic
Downloading... 3 isos currently, each with roughly 50 Kb/s... could be worse. :)

jlc
FYI... https://mandrivausers.org/index.php?showtopic=31436 or here: http://fedoraforum.org/forum/showthread.ph...5561#post475561 This is about the same run through I do in rawhide, I haven't been able to test these updated packages, and um, I forgot i was booted into xen and nvidia doesn't build against it, so this should work, please test it :)
solarian
My total ADSL download speed is 60KB/s, sucky provider. by the way, I noticed there are 5 cd iso images. can someone please tell what exactly is in those? seems awfully lot even compared to Mandriva and I have only 7gb for my root (stupid early partitioning decision) ======================== from release notes 7.3. Mouse Configuration Utility RemovedThe system-config-mouse configuration utility has been dropped in this release because synaptic and three-button mouse configuration is handled automatically. Serial mice are no longer supported. Does that mean I won't be able to use my PS2 mouse? I don't have a usb one... arctic
Nope. Serial mice are even older than PS/2 mice.
ianw1974
No your PS/2 will be OK, serial are the ones attached to the 9 pin serial port :P Oh, my internet connection is 32Kbps. I need faster.
solarian
hey, thanks! but what about my 7gb / ? :/ will that be enough? I want to leave about 4gb free
ianw1974
Normally a standard install takes about 2GB from what I remember. That would leave about 5, depending on how much extra you add and/or swap space.
solarian
Thanks! I've never installed FC before and those 5cd's got me scared, that's why I was asking. p.s. I have a seperate 1.5gb swap partition p.p.s. Is there any place where I can find contents according to cd's? Maybe I don't need to download all 5cd's, but 3 are enough... Haven't found anything on google yet Edited March 20, 2006 by solarian
jlc
If this isn't for a laptop that wont suspend, I'd only use about 512MB for swap and the rest for / if this is a pretty small hd. The installer will also make a suggestion.
