ianw1974
See this link: http://www.linux-gamers.net/modules/wiwimo...ge=HOWTO+NVidia under the section 5. Found this using google with "enable fastwrites nvidia": http://www.google.co.uk/search?hl=en&q=ena...le+Search&meta= For Mandrake/Mandriva, you need to edit the /etc/modprobe.conf, since modules.conf isn't something that's used anymore. Ceco
I added an option "options nvidia NVreg_EnableAGPFW=1" in modprobe.conf .Thanx anyway ;)
ianw1974
It also has to be supported on your board as well. Try this: cat /proc/driver/nvidia/agp/card cat /proc/driver/nvidia/agp/host-bridge On my system with a TI4400 card it reports that fastwrites (fw) and side band addressing (sba) are supported. However, my host bridge only supports sba. Therefore, I can't get fastwrites enabled on my system. I did add the option I listed before to /etc/modprobe.conf on my system and it enabled sba but not fw. This could be the reason why yours isn't working, unless of course you managed to get it working. After rebooting, check: cat /proc/driver/nvidia/agp/status it'll show what's enabled. sjaglin
Hi Ian! I enabled both fw and sba on my asus v9999 (fx6800 i think) and it did not make any significant improvement for quake4 or doom3 or glxgears. I am not sure what these two are suppose to increase... Cheers Stef
ianw1974
Me either, I had sba enabled and my fps was the same. So i reset it, and removed the changes I made :P No idea what it does either, but figured would give it a go and see what happened. I don't play games really, just interested in the outcome.
