Trio3b
Have read the docs at squid, sourceforge and DG, but they don't reflect what I have in my configuration files. I have not altered these files since installing them. For example, squid is not installed into /usr as indicated by docs. Also, squid must be altered to allow users by uncommenting, but my file has everything commented/uncommented differently than I am used to so it (docs) are of no value. Is this peculiar to MDK? Any help out there? Thanks
ianw1974
Any distro can have apps installed in different locations. The docs are based on compiling from scratch. With MDK/MDV you use rpm's, so they are already made and installed in the location by the person who made the rpm. The same goes with the .conf files. They are usually configured with minimum basics, and then you can edit and go from there. You'll find the same with other distros too, that they don't always get installed where the original squid docs would say so. It's a matter of choice by whoever compiled it into the rpm or whatever.
