ianw1974
First, welcome to the board . You should be able to get it working with the Open Source drivers, I've had nothing but problems trying to get ATI's drivers to work from their website, but you can give it a go if you like. The installer supposed to have gotten better since I last tried it. Anyway, firstly, try this. Make sure you have your card configured as per you installed it, as close to the model you have. Then make sure you install "Mesa". This is the OpenGL extensions. This can be done at the command line by typing: urpmi Mesa it's case sensitive so make sure "Mesa" is how I typed it above. Say yes to any dependencies it wants to install. Then, you need to edit /etc/X11/xorg.conf, so: su (supply root password when prompted) vi /etc/X11/xorg.conf go to end of file press "i" to insert and type the following: Section "DRI" Mode 0666 EndSection now press "ESC" once. now press ":w" to save. now press ":q" to quit now restart your system, and you should have OpenGL enabled. To check that it's all gone well open a terminal window and type: glxinfo | grep direct if it's working correctly it should report that direct rendering is enabled with "yes". If not, then I suggest downloading the drivers from ATI's website. However, this has always worked for me in the past, and I got around 1200fps with my ATI Radeon 9250 R925 128MB card. But I'm not sure whether I can get more or not. I'll maybe give it a go some time soon with ATI's drivers and see if it's any better. ianw1974
Yes, its XF86Config in 10.0, 10.1 and higher uses xorg.conf. Just make sure during install, at summary double check the graphics is configured.

ianw1974
Can you do the following and post the results: rpm -qa mesa and rpm -qa Mesa I don't think you have the mesa OpenGL libraries installed.

ianw1974
Does it still report this error: Xlib: extension "XFree86-DRI" missing on display ":0.0". direct rendering: No OpenGL renderer string: Mesa GLX Indirect On my system when I've type glxinfo | grep direct it usually reports something like this: direct rendering: no using Mesa Indirect or wording along those lines. I suggest trying the ATI driver from their website. You might have more luck with that. There are instructions on their website on what to do to configure it. ianw1974
Do you have your kernel source installed? Easy way to check for me is in the console window type this: ls -l /usr/src if nothing is listed there, we need to make sure your kernel source is installed. So, then you can check your kernel version: uname -a a version will be reported, something like 2.6.x.x.x so now make a note of this number: urpmi kernel-source and it will list a few, now choose the one that matches your kernel version: urpmi kernel-source-rest of filename here as an example - kernel-source-2.6.8.12-24 once that has installed, try running the ATI installer again. The drivers won't install or compile if no kernel source is present. If you have a kernel source installed, then you shouldn't need to install. From memory I never got my ATI Radeon 9250 R925 card working in Mandrake 10.0. So if you're using 10.0, maybe you might be worthwhile consider installing 10.1 or even better LE2005. My ATI card works no problems in LE2005, and I didn't even use the ATI drivers.
