  1. Lo again well after trying and trying i couldnt get them drivers on so i went to another distro and bingo they went on smooth without any glitches atall .. so i guess mandriva for me is a no no but thanks for your time and patience in helping me
  2. Yeh the source was installed ok im gonna restart it all again.. ill keeep you posted ill take my time and double check what im doing but im sure im doing it right as per your instructions or ATI'S very strange
  3. Ok i got 2005 LE on and im getting the same thing ..but i got the rpm xorg package from ati when i installed it using command line with force then when i checked glrxinfo it was all there direct 3d enablled so i rebooted and it whent back to mesa i come out of x and see errors that fglrx module couldnt be loaded ok i checked log
  4. Ok thanks for speedy reply the source wasnt installed so i installed that then re run ATI installer then run fglrxconfig then rebooted as on instructions ... now i got blank screen on boot I think your right get another version installed
  5. On my system when I've type glxinfo | grep direct it usually reports something like this: direct rendering: no using Mesa Indirect or wording along those lines. I suggest trying the ATI driver from their website. You might have more luck with that. There are instructions on their website on what to do to configure it. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Well i used ATI installer and they installed and no blank screen i get this now Loading required GL library /usr/lib/libGL.so.1 direct rendering: No OpenGL renderer string: Mesa GLX Indirect if i run glxgear its realy slow 335 frames in 5.0 seconds = 67.000 FPS 880 frames in 5.0 seconds = 176.000 FPS 1760 frames in 5.0 seconds = 352.000 FPS 1840 frames in 5.0 seconds = 368.000 FPS
  6. i did the search it found some packages and there dependencies about 13 things it installed but still the same as above ... using glxinfo | grep direct
  7. OH ok ill search for libmesa in packages then install them and check
  8. i done second one as first did nothing results for the second are .. Mesa-5.0.2-2mdk just that on its own
