Guest perdyv
Your "solution" isn't good for me : Mandriva 2006 is better than 2005 for a lot of things. For instance, I couldn't use a wacom pen tablet since Mandrake 10. Now, it works again. If I downgrade, I loose these improvements. The MCC has improved too. It's faster, more reactive... KDE... end so on... No ! someone ought to work out this problem about usb ! <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I had the same problem after a upgrade over the net. Found out that the upgrade did not install the latest kernel. Did that, and everyting worked OK

pestekkorna
I'm experiencing the same problem. I tried a lot of solutions such as: - install LE2005 and upgrade everything via the net to the 2006 stable version. nothing - install directly the 2006 free dvd edition and then updated it. nothing - installed the 2006 free edition, updated it to the Cooker, installed the latest kernel (2.6.12.13) and tried to make it work with different versions of udev. still nothing. me neither I am able to see the hotplug in the list of services in the MCC... I think this could be a problem of unloaded usb modules... quite strange. If you have any idea, you're welcome! thank you for your attention, peste
solarian
By any chance are you Satyr @ sciforums.com? Same avatar picture ;) As for 2006, I've already given up on it, waiting out for 2007, hopefully it will be more polished. 2005 is very stable and with an updated KDE there's no real reason to have 2006 (at least for me). Maybe except SMART, but urpmi is good enough. edit: oops, it seems that I had already replied to this thread and said almost the same Had forgotten! Exams..... I could return to the LE2005 but just a week ago everything was fine and working for me, even if I was in Cooker. Then I had a problem with a hard dish and I had to format and reinstall everything and the problems began... I checked out and I realised that I didn't install hotplug. now I have done it but still nothing but the led of my graphical tablet which is on... ciao, peste
ianw1974
You can check hotplug is enabled by using the following: chkconfig --list | grep hotplug if it says off to everything, then: chkconfig hotplug on now when you restart hotplug will start. scarecrow
If using udev 0.76+, hotplug is obsolete (it deserved that!)- so you may not use it at all.
