Internet access problem [solved]

Hey all, first time posting here. Just got Mandrake 10.1 and installed without any problems, now i've configured my network and it has the icon in the corner saying "network is up on interface eth0". However, when i try to loads up any internet browser or instant chat program, it says it can't connect, but the network is clearly connected because i can ping websites and my ifconfig is telling me i'm sending and recieving packets, any ideas?

Thanks,

Sam3773.

I know that the network is working because i used the shared network files to get the IFconfig -a results to my laptop. :)

Thanks,

Try with disabling IPV6 on your system ( 192.x.x.x shows me that you are probably using a router that ain't capable of working on ipv6 networks). We have many posts on that on this board, so please use the search-function on the following keywords:

ipv6

resolv.conf

modprobe.conf

Thanks, i turned IPV6 off in modprobe and it works like a dream now. :) Well.. Kopete tells me my password's wrong and gaim won't connect but it's the usual errors. Cheers for all your help! :D

Thanks,
