I have just installed mandrake 10.1 on a DELL latitude 640.

Now I want to use my wireless pcmcia card but I can install it.

Hardrake reconizes it but wen i want to config the wireless netwerk it ask for the driver.

I choose orinoco_cs, but it doesn't accapt it.

I'm still new to linux.

I have the same with mine, you'll prob be needing to use ndiswrapper. Do a google on "ndiswrapper" and you'll get the link to the site, and all the info you need to get it sorted :P

Any probs, post back, and we'll see what we can do.

first I put this in modprobe.conf

alias wlan0 ndiswrapper
install ndiswrapper /sbin/modprobe --ignore-install ndiswrapper && { loadndisdriver 168C 0013 /etc/ndiswrapper/ntpr11ag.sys /etc/ndiswrapper/ntpr11ag.inf; }

then I do

# modprobe ndiswrapper

I don't get any errors.

then I do "iwconfig" and it does't reconize it:

[root@localhost ivan]# iwconfig
lo        no wireless extensions.

eth0      no wireless extensions.

sit0      no wireless extensions.

What to do now?

[root@localhost ivan]# dmesg
......
eth0: no IPv6 routers present
cdrom: This disc doesn't have any tracks I recognize!
ndiswrapper version 0.8 loaded
ISO 9660 Extensions: Microsoft Joliet Level 3
ISO 9660 Extensions: RRIP_1991A
eth0: Setting full-duplex based on MII #24 link partner capability of 05e1.
eth0: no IPv6 routers present
eth0: Setting full-duplex based on MII #24 link partner capability of 05e1.

Edit (Qchem): snipped some of the output to make the thread readable

The lack of lines like

ndiswrapper: driver ''driver1'' added

suggests that the windows drivers haven't been loaded correctly. Additionally, IIRC there may have been a problem with ndiswrapper in that version of mandrake - it may be wise to remove it completely (search this networking forum if you're unsure) and install the latest version from the ndiswrapper site.
