wilcal
Clean install of Mandriva LE 2005. Apache2 & Webmin work local but not from the LAN. Mandriva LE 2005 is at IP 192.168.0.4 Apache2 local http://localhost/ (works) http://localhost/~mysite/ (works) https://127.0.0.1/~mysite/ (works) http://192.168.0.4/~mysite/ (works) from any another computer on the LAN http://192.168.0.4/~mysite/ (no connect) Webmin https://localhost:10000/ (works) https://127.0.0.1:10000/ (works) https://192.168.0.4:10000/ (works) from any another computer on the LAN https://192.168.0.4:10000/ (no connect) There are two other computers on the LAN at 192.168.0.2 and 192.168.0.3 192.168.0.3 is a Mandrake 9.2 Apachie server that works fine. Webmin works fine on it too. Thanks for any hints [moved from Software by spinynorman]
paul
firstly can you ping from the other machines? Have you got a firewall enabled perhaps? perhaps check your apache conf looking for line like this: Allow from 192.168.0.4 change to Allow from ALL
wilcal
FWIW I have two Mandrake boxes on the LAN. A 9.2 and this new LE 2005. From the LE 2005 box I can ping the 9.2. From the two XP boxes on the same LAN I can ping the 9.2. The LE 2005 can't be pinged from anything on the LAN but can ping itself.
Qchem
Sounds like it could be the firewall getting in the way. You could try turning of your internet connection, switching off the firewall and then attempting the pings etc. If that doesn't help then at least we can rule out the firewall causing problems - also, what's your security setting in MCC? wilcal
Solved This one I stumbled across looking for something else. Here goes. During installation Mandriva LE 2005 asks you to make a decision on the Security Level of your system. Here is that screen: http://shots.osdir.com/slideshows/slidesho...ase=334&slide=5 The default choice here is Security "High". That will effectively not allow any external access to your Mandriva Box preventing external access to Apache and Webmin. If during the installation you change that setting to Security "Standard" you will be able to access the websites on your new Mandriva Box from the LAN and ultimately the WAN if you choose to allow that through your Router. I suspect everyone has stuggled with this one. Thank you all for the hints

Well, but I want to use a higher level :D How to make Apache work correctly with security=higher? I want all my LAN to have full access, no Access for the WAN. Firewall is off. I guess that's my problem with MadiaWiki (Post: https://mandrivausers.org/index.php?showtop...ndpost&p=194015 ) It always tries to find everything under 127.0.0.1 .... Well, I can access the Apache pages under /var/www via LAN (entering the IP, because my Linux-PCs LAN-Name can't be found), even phpBB2 works, but the Wiki doesn't (I installed it on my ISPs web server, it works there)... Hmmm. Now trying to switch to standard security as a test... CU. Panic.
