How much stress...

Recommended Posts

Does compiling the kernel put on the CPU?????

I want to test one of my PC's, just bumped it up a notch, to make sure for stability.

I found a little script that compiles the kernel over and over and over.

I also have CPU burn for K7.

Thought about running them at the same time.....

Any thoughts??????

Am I ever gonna learn to put things in the right spot???????? :D :D

Depends really, most kernel builds will put 'stress' on the system, primarily just putting the CPU up to 100 for a little while. Although it really isnt 'stressing it a lot, a truly stressed system would have plenty of disk IO and the like.

For me with my kernel config, it only takes 7 minutes to compile a kernel.

I tryed OpenOffice on the kids PC, got sick of it.

But I compiled the kernel for about 2 hours, then ran CPUroastK7 for a couple more hours.

Before that I ran Memtest86+ for hours, then ran 15 pass's on test 5 and 7.

SHould be good to go.......:D:D
